    Hell all:

Cold weather is starting to show its ugly head and my old body needs a warm truck to crawl into.

I have looked at a lot of posts and I am not sure what is the best conversion to use?

I have a '22 with push button start. The one from https://accessorides.com/ says it will fit but I am not sure about the installation. I watched the video but I am not sure about removing the entire glove box; the video isn't very clear at that point.

Are there other options, better options?

Whatever I install I would like it to work off of my factory fob.

    Thanks,

    Skip

Yeah I would gladly give up some of the safety nonsense to have a remote start from the factory. It seems most of my friends with after markets have issues sooner or later (not on 4Rs but in general). A cheap Accord has remote start from factory but not a 4R?

I have the accessorides in my 2018 and have zero issues with it, been in for about 3 years . takes about 30 minutes to install. plenty of videos on you tube. pretty much plug and play.

Don’t the 2022’s have remote start via satellite or something like that? As part of the safety sense?

I thought they did when I bought mine but I can't find any info on it. Maybe the higher models? Mine is an SR5 Premium.

Personally I used https://www.12volt.solutions/ without issues. It was a super easy install. Note that all push button start models will turn off when you open the door.

Do you have the app? I can start it with the app without being close to the 4R.

I can also press the lock button 3 times on the key fob to remote start but I have to be somewhat close to the truck. (I’ve got a TRD pro, I don’t know if that matters)

I have the app but I do not have the lock/unlock feature or the auto start feature on it. I am not sure why?

My 2022 TRD-Offroad manual says the following:

Using the key fob to remote start a Remote Connect equipped Toyota:
Press the LOCK button on the remote.
Press the LOCK button a second time within 1 second.
Press the LOCK button again, this time holding it for 3 seconds. The vehicle will start.

I've had Accessorides only my last 4 trucks. Works great. But I have a key, not push button.

My 2018 SR5P didn't have remote start either.

I have one from Compustar. It works well. The factory keyfob kinda sucks for range. The best part about the Compustar is you can set it for longer than the 10 minutes from factory. MINe will go for 35 minutes and I think 40 minutes is max. That will really warm up your truck if needed.

The remote start unit will be the same, but the choices are range length and adds external antenna and new remotes, I had the 1000 ft on my Titan and worked great. My current 4r only has the base and uses the factory key fobs. Kinda wish i upgraded again, range on the Toyota fobs are something left to be desired range wise.

With carista you can also change the length for the OEM auto start

After much research I went with the Start-X solution. Easy installation, works great, affordable. I can’t believe this isn’t standard kit on a $50K vehicle.

Installation took me a little less than an hour following their detailed instructional video. Note that you will be prying a number of plastic trim pieces off your dash in order to pull the glove box and access the wiring harness. I purposely did this during the summer months so not to break off any precious plastic tabs that could be more brittle in colder weather. YMMV.

if you are satisfied with the range your fob unlocks your doors you will be satisfied with it starting your truck. Start-X (and others) offers two other long-range options using a replacement fob or a smartphone app if that blows your hair back.

Last winter sucked with no remote start here in Northern Michigan (#firstworldproblems) but this year will be different. I’m starting to regularly use it now and am very pleased so far.
