Except for drivers side, all window buttons stuck in trim

Has anyone else experienced this? The fancy carbon fiber decor trim is too close to the rear of all the window buttons, except drivers side. I can barely move them up. Passenger rear is so tight it sticks up after I roll up the window. Just found this out today when installing rain guards. Bought my 4R literally like 3 weeks ago.

I have not noticed at all but I have only been in drivers seat and had my Dad in passenger side a few times. I will have to check it out

 

Kind of sounds like the previous owner installed these trim pieces sloppily and didnt line things up correctly. Hopefully it’s not too hard to peel them off and reinstall…. Or just to get rid of them all together.

 

I don’t think the “carbon fiber” pieces peel off. They are part of the door card.

 

If it’s actually the case that it’s OEM it sounds extraordinarily junky.

Mine is not a premium, but this is my switch on the rear door.

For the CF trim to be stock, it would have to be a really thin trim piece so its not higher than the rest of the door. And for it a trim piece to interfere with the switch, it would have to be very misaligned, or the hole too small. Probably worth waiting from a pic from a premium to see how it comes factory.

Edit: This is the CF finish on the center console, and the rear tailgate window switch. It’s not an applied trim piece, but rather the plastic is finished in this manner. And the tolerances are all very nice. If anything sticks out or interferes on the OPs 4runner, it’s probably aftermarket.

 

I have the TRD off road premium. I think the carbon fiber decor cones with it. At least it was on there when I bought it.

 

Spaz you are right. I have a premium and the plastic surrounding the switches is a plain black pebbled finish just like the photo you posted.

Greyman, you bought used, right? So it’s possible that the carbon fiber bits are aftermarket. They exist. This photo is off eBay.

I just peeled them off. I guess the previous owner is a crossed-eyed retarded monkey. May just leave them off.

 

I bet the dealer put them on to jazz things up. Anyway, it’s good to know you were able to take them off , hopefully cleanly.

 

Yeah, probably. They came off clean. The only thing nice about hot Florida weather. Lol. Thanks for the help all!
