5th Gen 2016 Trail sulphur smell when accelerating aggressively?

Well it has to be coming in somewhere... when its idling and your outside, can you smell it then?

 

my new 2022 smelled like amonia the day i got it home. Thought it was just “breaking in” the TRD exhaust etc. It comes and goes and no performance issues.

im not worried about it. My 2011 does the same and with sulfer smell here and there.

 

on both of mine, i never smell inside. Only outside by right by the exhaust exit

 

Well then no guys it's just inside when accelerating hard. I'm not talking about outside at all it's making its way inside

 

And forget the window

How do I accelerate outside and smell it standing outside at the same time lol I'm not bringing my wife in to help and then I stand next to the exhaust and smell it

 

I know this is an old thread, but I have noticed the rotten egg smell getting worse in my rig. It used to be minimal and now it's almost a punch in the face. Nothing else seems to be a problem. It has no indication of any decrease in performance. I am suspicious of an exhaust leak or maybe a clogged cat, but wouldn't there be more evidence of such?

 

Not really a lot of telltale signs that stand right out besides the Smell, Decrease in Performance happens however it is minimal so hard to notice the Cat will run hotter again hard to tell because I really don't see anyone checking underneath every time they drive.
Some of the signs are:

1. Sluggish engine performance.
2. Reduced acceleration.
3. Dark exhaust smoke.
4. The smell of sulfur or rotten eggs from the exhaust.
5. Excessive heat under the vehicle.
6. Decrease in Fuel economy.

 

just a thought have you checked the weatherstrip that is on the back hatch to make sure its properly sealing. I have side exhaust and not sure if yours exits at rear bumper.

 

I have none of those other than the smell of rotten eggs. Well...I haven't checked for excessive heat so I can't speak to that one. Guess I'll see if it worsens or if anything else becomes an issue. Thanks for the info.
