    Hello Y'all,
I have a 93 4Runner, 2WD, AT, and the speedometer is not working, it doesnt move or is erratic. The transmission shifts normally and the car runs fine.
I assumed it had a speedometer cable but when I went looking I found two sensors, both on the driver side and at the back of the transmission. They look normal and nothing is broken.
I attached a picture of each sensor, one with a gear and one without. I also took a picture of the transmission label and the door label. I keep looking for these parts but I cant find the parts number that match what I have.
This morning, I brought the car up to temp, and I connected terminals TE1 and E1 at the diagnostic port and the "O/D off" and "check engine" lights starting flashing. I think the check engine is (41) point to the throttle position sensor and the OD is (62) pointing to a No1 solenoid. But I'm not sure. Here is a video of the codes.

    Thanks for the help.

There is a good troubleshooting matrix in the FSM for a Code 62 and 41.

I had the same problem on my 94 and it turned out to be a loose/broken electrical connection where the wire connects to the back of the speedometer.

My 92 did this years ago and the codes indicated the sensor but it turned out to be the actual speedometer cluster. Good luck with your diagnosis.

I'm hoping its not the cluster. Removal doesn't look fun.

    Nice. Thanks for the link.
Did they say what was actually wrong with it? Is the cluster malfunctioning a common occurrence?

I don't recall the company I used, and I don't recall is they said what the issue was, the speedometers on these cars have issues, was expensive for they did fix the issue, my speedometer was not working at all.

Cost me $400 by the dealership and that was back in the early 2000's.

I thing there is a video that explains removal, from what I recall it wasn't that hard
