Cat thefts - is it a problem for us?

I have not had a problem with heat after installing cat shield.

 

So I'm reading this thread and thinking, 62 posts and no one on the forum has had their cat stolen? Or personally know of a 4Runner that got hit? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

 

A Toyota Sequoia across the street from me count?

 

A few in downtown houston....would that count?

 

I had mine on my tacoma stolen at work. There was about a dozen guys at work who have had theirs stolen as well. In broad daylight with people around. Location socal, they know law enforcement won't respond in a timely manner and even if they're caught the prosecutors are pretty liberal and they'll get a slap on the hands if that so no conesquences

 

If you had that many employees at one location get their cats stolen, I would set up a sting operation.

 

I get it that there's a lot of cat theft happening. I'm just trying to answer the thread title -- Has anyone with a *4Runner* been hit?

 

I think hybrids like Prius get hit most. This thread isn't getting positive responses expected.
I guess.

 

A small few have been hit.

 

I park in the garage and work from home so there's not much opportunity for a thief.

 

my 97 4Runner got hit at the college parking lot.. I have a 2021 4R, I put on cat protection (talon garage shield)..since it has happen to me before early 2000s..

I do park outside most times.. hope this helps..

 

Out of curiosity - How much roughly are new/used T4R Cats?

 

Judging by your picture they are targeting state vehicles now at night on a campus that involves part of the team name in your picture, if you in the home town of that team they are around. Wish there was a automatic drop activation as soon as a cat thief is detected under the car haha!

 

I got my catalytic converters stolen TWICE on 99-00 4R back in college around 2009-2011. First cat was original and second was universal cat. It's funny that they both got stolen at gated apartment complexes but never stolen at non gated places I've lived lol. With 22 4R, I put on a MillerCat steel shield for piece of mind while parking around town and park in my garage at night. It won't stop someone that wants it, but hopefully deter them.

 

It may slow them down atleast
