For anyone interested, this company is trying to go after Toyota for the steering wheel shimmy / vibration issue for a free cost to you. Anyone dealing with this it might be worth a try depending on your state and how you qualify.

I am giving all my dealer trips to them once I am out of work and can provide exact dates and mileage…doesn’t hurt to try. I find this online being a well example of this not being normal at the least if I get nowhere.

So, they will help you with filing a lemon law complaint to get a replacement or cash back for your 4Runner. For a fee of course. Who knows if this will kick Toyota into devising a real fix.

In my readings over the past few years, it seems that most instances of this shimmy has been on vehicles with some type of tire/wheel/suspension mod. My 2019 OR is stock, I just had the OEM Duelers replaced with same-size Continentals at 92k miles, and I haven't experienced this even one time. Am I right - is it mostly on non-stock setups?

Interesting, but I bet its only if you have no modifications and with oem tires/wheels.

After reading a millions threads and dealing with it myself on my own 4runner.

I honestly think its an issue with the toyota dealers balancing procedures.

Ok hear me out. I had my toyota local dealer road force balance my tires. I got them back with a ton of weights(shit ton) all over my wheels. They said my tires are so aggressive it was tough to balance and I may get a shimmy(cooper at3 sl are not that aggressive and only weigh 45lbs). It was free so I didn't care. But yeah I got a shimmy. Then I found a local offroad shop. I told them my issue. I took it to them for another balancing. Got it back, next to no weight on any tire and no shimmy what so ever.

The shop said they don't use cones, they use adapters. I'm guessing they mean how they mount the wheel to balancer?

Our 21' ORP is still stock wheels/tires and there's no shimmy. I agree that it's most likely the place doing the balancing. I don't think it's just Toyota either.

My 2018 SR5 is the straightest tracking vehicle I’ve ever had. And absolutely zero vibration. I’m amazed at how smooth it is at all speeds. The steering wheel stays almost motionless.

Wish I had the same experience with the tracking…alignment is spot on but I will say the new ko2’s have better road feel vs dunlops

Curious - did the wobble happen with the OEM tires? If not, how soon after you got the K02s?

I had what seemed to be the original dunlops when I bought it a couple of weeks ago at 60k. No wobble. I did probably 15 miles of city driving on k02s, then the next day 150 highway. Immediate wobble on k02s above 50mph. 75 miles each way for work, have made the trip several times now, wobble remains. Also TPMS flashes and stays lit. DT couldn’t get the light out at initial install appointment. Sitting in the sun now waiting for them to try and rebalance, because the lobby is full of angry people lol.

KO2's C load.. I actually had some vibration after they installed it, but they road force balanced the tires and they replaced one very bad one. My thread is here: KO2 C1 vs E1 | Toyota 4Runner Forum [4Runners.com]
