+ and the video is nearly identical to his 2018 TRD Pro video. Also fun to note that Doug is apparently a Toyota Truck guy (he has a 200-series LC and said in the video that he would've gotten 4R TRD Pro if it had a 3rd row option)

Wouldn't a TRD Off Road Premium with 3rd row be essentially the same?

He reviews tons of cars all the time so he can't be expected to get everything right. He said the suspension "adjusts" which of course it does not. He's also criticizing the truck for lack of features at its price point; but he's using a price point including dealer markups. Not really fair as ADM is not MSRP.

Are the majority of Pro sales at MSRP or less?

Too many are above MSRP, unfortunately. But Doug is criticizing the truck for not having certain features at this price point. Toyota decides how the truck is equipped and sets MSRP. Dealers are taking advantage of the situation and marking them up. It's not fair to say......it should have XYZ feature for $70,000 just because that's what they're being marked up to. At the same time, this type of content gets engagement so I can understand why he does it. I got my Pro at MSRP last year and would not pay over sticker

Totally not calling you out, as I am in the same boat. I paid exactly MSRP for my Pro with nothing extra. But I'd be curious if his take on the price was under the assumption that a majority of Pro purchasers are paying over MSRP.

I do agree his content is tailored to get views. Obviously he's got to watch sales trends which would directly relate to views, shit I watched it haha

I paid $2,000 above MSRP for a Pro in May of 2021. But I got $14,000 on a trade-in that I was hoping for $10,000.

Have you checked what your trade is listed at now? Thought I was getting a deal on my trade, next day it’s listed 7.5k higher than they gave me for it.

You can't completely blame Doug for his content - a lot of it is clickbait and has to be in the current online world. While the TRD Pro with its flashy colors might command a hefty premium due to exclusivity, if you are willing to wait, most reputable dealers will sell you @ MSRP. Crazy world where MSRP is considered a good deal.....My 2022 TRD ORP was sold to me @ MSRP. But I waited for it for several months. One on the lot would have cost more.

Not necessarily wrong IMO for the lack of features even at MSRP

At that price point I wish it had memory seats and ventilated seats like the limited. Or a better camera resolution. My 15 year old Lexus has these and my wife’s $28k Hyundai also does.

Love my 4R though and never considered not buying it despite that, but definitely would have been nice to have on a $50k+ car in 2022
