I got the 4 runner on the expressway today, tracks straight and shimmering is very, very minor, just about gone, between 60-63 mph once I went above 63 it was gone. If I would have driven the vehicle for the first time today, I don’t think I would have noticed anything. Service rep at Toyota confirmed that aftermarket wheels and accessories are installed in the USA.

Good to hear, hopefully it stays that way over time. I could probably deal with that…mines just cursed I think. Even the paint Is terrible. I feel like I accumulate more chips every time I drive it…chips so damn easy and they are not small either.

I think there’s a clear film you can put on it so for rock chips. Don’t know name nor where to purchase. I need to find it for mine also just in case.

Xpel I think is what people recommend, paint protection film. It can be costly though and still can let chips happen if hard enough. Helps with scratches though I would assume.

I wonder if vinyl wrap front part of hood about 4” in same color as vehicle will work.

Do you have running boards and hood/window deflectors. Does help against chips.
I always install those first on my vehicles.

Well...well...ladies and gentlemen...I went to discount tire and my shimmy disappeared....or at least 90% of it. I think I might just looking too hard into it but I am certain my shimmy is gone now at 50 to 60mph. I have to thank one of the other members on the K02 thread where he gave me a procedure to follow and it did work. I am super happy that we at least can say with more confidence that the damn tires are most likely the culprit with this stuff. At least on my rig.

That’s great, so is mine, can nearly tell and don’t really Cruze at 60-63. Usually it’s 70 or 75.

has anyone tried replacing the track bar or steering stabilizer with an aftermarket that is beefier? I know that’s recommended on jeeps when going from stock to 35” tires.

I got a question for everyone here. Are we all running the TRD Pro rims? I went to the dealership for the 4th time yesterday and had them road force balance. On the drive home it felt great (Minimal to no shake) and it was very hot here in Colorado so the PSI was at ~35. Today after driving to work the PSI was 31 cold and it was still effin there shaking from 60-70. They told me yesterday "Toyota knows about this and deems it normal. Its probably your tires. If you don't like it put your stock rims back on". So ultimately I want to know if I get methods or some other rim will I run into this same issue again or is it just these TRD rims? TIA

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
Limited (20”rims) owners have had this issue too

I have a feeling it has something to do with the steering assembly and not the wheels.

I was using the TRD wheels and then switched to RRW and issue was still there. I don't think the wheels have nothing to do with this. It is the damn tires...I am starting to see it more and more after discount tire was able to do the road force balancing but they took their time and I was there doing it with them. I do think messing with the lifts and bigger tires create more challenges for this very touchy system. Seems like getting this to perfection is very difficult.

Was this comment in regards to the Pro's having the suspension, badges, etc put on here in the USA? Do the Pro window stickers still show Japan as 100% parts and assembly?

If your are running the nitro grapplers still, try 34 cold. Had a shimmy on my 2021 pro at anything below 33.5 psi cold. Once I brought them up no shimmy. Still wearing great at 20k miles. Granted I got the eibach springs put on at 15k, but nothing had changed for the shimmy. Still there when they get low.

My TRD ORP didnt have any of that added at the port and the alignment was waaaaay off when i drove it home day 1. My dealers service tech told me he sees it a lot and it could be the way they strap the vehicles down on the boat. Who knows. Widespread problem though. Brand new 40K+ vehicles should be aligned properly when leaving the lot.

Its the laziness of the dealer. You think they would go over everything and test drive it for the owner take delivery

I generally ask for an alignment report when I get any vehicle. I check oil and tire pressure etc before I leave dealer lots etc. I tell the sales guy before hand I will be doing it. Generally it forces them to make sure they check stuff. My wife’s car they did not check the tires and there was 45 psi in the tires…it’s a small car, standard tires..

To the person asking about rock chips--yes check out Xpel film custom cut templates for 4R's are available. I have it on my hood, front bumper and grille and so far I really like it. I had a very very minor bubble come out on the edge but corrected easily. I paid roughly $1,100 for the install. So far very pleased just wanted to pass along.
