I got a very enthusiastic wave from an attractive woman in a black 4Runner recently. Also, one of my dad's neighbors said nice truck as she walked by. But, I'm too damn awkward to make anything happen, so here I am, eating dinner alone as usual.

Must be an east coast thing, 'cause it's the same here. They're as popular as any CUV, a grocery getter for most people in this area.

I think somebody on here said we buy all these cool cars, motorcycles, boats, etc thinking it will attract the ladies, but just end up attracting other middle aged men :laugh:

Maybe one could go fox hunting while waiting 2-3 hours at the dealership service department for your 10k skid plate bolt cross thread job.

Those skits were awesome! SNL was so good back then! I remember watching those sketches with my dad when we were kids.

My dealer story sent this email to service sales and owner never a single reply

I Arrived early for 8:00am 15,000 toyotacare appointment. I added a customer paid oil change to the order
After 1.5 hours vehicle was returned without the tires rotated
The work slip had no indication it was not done. I was not notified it was not done.
In the past I placed the anti theft key in the cup holder for the tech. I forgot this time and had the intake employee call to verify it was not done. She did - no rotation.
So I wonder if anything was done at all?
What is done the 15,000 inspection if the primary driver of the appointment wasn’t done?
Its 2019 a simple call to the intake person could have had her ask where the lock nut was? Its in the center console.

I have heard dealer horror stories and thought your dealership had a president service award or something so with Toyota care I figured I would let you service my $40,000 vehicle. I have lost all confidence in any service provided by your service team. How could I not? The intake lady offered to have it done immediately and gave me the oil change for feee but after 1.5 hours already for a rotation that didnt happen and an oil change that I now hoped happened I decided I would waste the rest of my Saturday morning rotating my own tires to make sure it was done.

Also on the slip it said my brakes were checked and they were ok. How can you properly check brake pad ware without removing the wheel?

As I started to begin to rotate my tires I noticed my skid plate was installed incorrectly or bent? It was covered in oil so I now assume at least the oil was changed. This generated a return trip to your dealership 2 hours after I just left. They sent it to the shop to get someone else to look at it and said a spacer was left off and they did fix it. So now I have 4 hours and two trips to the dealer tied up and tires remain unrotated.

I apologize if this comes of curt but not to make a simple call or to not note it was not done is inexcusable. Im not on facebook or other social media so I will not post this experience but if asked by family or friends I will gladly relay my experience. -as for the 20,000 and all remaining services oil & tires will be done by me and any thing major I am now forced to the dealer in PA.

I just would like you to try and keep others from this experience- at least ask if you need help and certainly state this work could not be completed due to X.

Unfortunately, most oil changes/tire rotations are done by the most junior techs.
Except when you combine your oil changes with master tech level repairs.

Best to avoid early mornings, evening and weekend oil changes.
Experienced tech work mainly 9 -5 PM. I believe.

My reasoning for this is that service department don't like to set repair work outside this 9 - 5 hours.

We were supposed to have the Highlander Rear shock replaced Sat 9/3. They called and cancelled because experienced are off till 9/6.

Nothing personal against any Junior Techs on the forum.

Oil changes at dealerships. Seems to be hit or miss. Sux, but it is what it is.
If you are worried, learn to do it yourself. My 22 year old daughter does her oil changes on her Ford. Uses the oil filter strap to remove and replace filter. Takes under tray out, using torx bit and hammer drill. Once done, takes old oil to recycler.
    Full time worker.
No offense, but, oil changes are stuff you do.
    To each his own.

I don’t know where some of you live and how the dealers are, but my dealership records a video of each process to show you what’s being done with your car at each time and point them out so you can see. I have never had an issue with any work they have done. Just check the reviews of the dealership before you use them. You would usually find the truth about their service

They must of had some previous issues, and this is what the management did to regain customer trust. Where are you located, if you dont mind.
