    2022 Army Green Trail Edition
Just had a call from my Toyota dealer today.. unfortunately the order I made last March for a 2022 trail edition won't happen... They don't have any more allocations for this model and the trail edition won't be back for 2023... My current option is ordering for a sr5 which in Canada is mostly the same as a 4wd sr5 premium in the US... The "good news" is that for 2023 the price on the sr5 in Canada has dropped 2000$ on the MSRP. So if I order a sr5 now the MSRP is only 1000$ more than the trail edition I had ordered but it also comes with more equipement. The dealer told me that since my initial order is from March, I'm the first on the list and I would get the first 2023. He seems to be pretty confident that I would get it before Christmas.. so I won't have my army green trail edition but, have the chance to have the first 2023 sr5 that I would pick in black.. it sucks because the delay is still more or less 4 months.. but I don't think I can do pretty much.. so wish me luck!

Nothing wrong with an SR5 premium.

Sorry to hear this bud wow.

Our SR5P which is your SR5 is a sweet truck. Personally speaking I like it a lot in some ways better than the Trail. You can always get a rack for the roof like the trail and a cooler if you really wanted it.

Personally black is not my first choice but we are all different. I would think think the color could be changed easily if you wanted.

This supply chain stuff is bs. I am sitting at my Honda dealer now with maybe 6 vehicles total available. My everyday car is an accord and getting my oil changed.

I would definitely consider getting your frame treated when your 4R comes in December. The only bad part is you have take it out in the crappy winter weather right away.

maybe your dealer could fluid film before driving home. I am a bit anal retentive though on preserving stuff. Maybe more so now since everything is hard to get.

I really love the SR5 with 3rd row. To me it was very nice to have option.

If you don't need 3rd row if you can up the price a little TRD ORP is a nice option with all the offroad tech.

For Canadian winters I think you can't beat the Limited with full-time 4wd. Getting a Limited with 17in wheels and tires would be the best imo. Sadly Limited cost arm and a leg compared to the Trail edition.

I have a trd offroad. In my case, money wasted as the vehicle is way more capable than what I am willing to put it through.
An SR5 would've been more than sufficient for all my 4x4 needs.

I have a '19 SR5 Premium-I know it's not a 2022 or 2023 but I LOVE it. We have had 4WDs ranging from a Subaru BRAT to RAV4s (2), Jeeps, Full-size Broncos, Nissans (several types), Scouts, FJ40s (2), and I drove several others while working for the Department of the Interior here in eastern Washington and northern California. The FJ40s were "Rhino-Built" but, overall, the SR5 4Runner is THE BEST (The Jeep was the most unreliable!)! As you can tell, though, I am "old school" and don't need all the bells and whistles! After all, how hard is it to turn the selector switch (I cut my teeth on locking hubs!)

Yes, resale value seems to be a tad better, but the money is locked in for the duration of the ownership. If you plan to off-road seriously, it is worth it. If it is the occasional trail here and there, then no. I have no plans for mine to put it in potential damaging situations, it is also my daily driver, gotta get to work. An ATV can scratch that itch very easy.
Another thing to think about is the damn knob vs stick. I hate the stick. Some will say omg old school blah blah blah. BS. It shakes like crazy, it collects dust and dirt in the boot, difficult to clean, not the easiest to go from setting to setting and it takes so much space on the console.
The price difference can account for new tires and rims, skid plates, roof rack, lights...

    I have a 2018 sr5P (no 3rd row) and couldn't be happier. Oh, and it's black ;)

It is a bummer to not be able to get your first choice of 4runner, but I bet you'll be plenty happy with a sr5p.

True but I have to admit that it is easier (although, less traditional; like locking hubs!)

The only potential issue with limited model is Xreas suspension. I recall reading that can be costly to fix if plan to keep a long time

It will not give any warnings on dash and have to go with the mercy of the dealership. XREAS is just shocks cross linked. You can simply replace with any other 4 regular shocks if they leak.

Being in Canada, I would find it hard not to get a KDSS Off Road Premium as you guys also get stuff like dual zone climate which is only offered here on Limited and Pro models.
ORP’s really do well on resale and KDSS is a major plus to some.

I believe the dual zone availability is the same in the US.

Same here, I’m in my late 60’s and I simply wanted something special as long as I was buying.
It will be a Garage Queen/Mall Crawler until the old runner dies and given to one of my sons.

Neither my ‘21 ORP or ‘21 Venture have automatic climate control. Would be cool if they added that to MY22.

It's a trail edition but the Canada version. Only color available was army green, which is what I wanted anyway. Every 4runner sold here are 4wd. And it comes stock with side steps. Of course pictures will follow when I will take possession of it!

I think the base model trail and sr5 here in Canada comes a little bit more equiped than the base one in the US... There's no 2wd option. The sr5 here is the same as the sr5 premium in the US, and the trail is pretty much the same as a sr5 with blacked out badge, trd wheels and roof rack.

Gotcha thanks for clarification. That is pretty cool. I know in SE USA they offer XP package on any model to get black out, heritage grill, and red wheels. In the Midwest it’s a no go. It’s really funny how different region and Canada get different versions.

I would think that cause confusion and cost more. Although that XP model is changed around in Florida I am told.
