    Hi there 5th genners

I have a 4runner that, according to my VIN, came with the back-up camera. And the camera is certainly there.

I do not see anywhere in the head unit to change setting for it, as I could with my last 5th gen.

And it does not display on the head unit when in reverse.

Where should I find the settings for the Camera. Can it be turned off? If the cam has a bad wire or something, would that "hide" the settings in the head unit? Or did my rig actaully not come with the back-up camera and someone tried to add one?

    Any help would be huge!

    Best,
    Patrick

What year and can we see the picture of the camera on the outside of the vehicle?

IMG_6758.jpg IMG_6757.jpg 2015. It has been relocated from the stock location on my Expedition One Rear Bumper. That could be the issue of course but it all appears to be wired correctly. And there are no setting in the head unit which is strange.

I don't remember there being a setting in the head unit for the backup camera on my 2019 either. I'm curious, since I've been looking at the anytime front/rear camera, if someone installed one on yours? Idk if it comes on automatically when shifting to reverse after install but I would look at the switch area to the left of the steering wheel to see if there is a switch to control it. You may luck out and find one installed in the front also.

My 2016 definitely had Camera setting for Brightness and Contrast. I had a rear bumper with spare tire mount that made the cam think it was dark outside so it washed out the background.

I will try the switches that are installed. There is a Dash Cam as well but it does not power up. Maybe a fuse issue?

On my 2019 you can turn on/off the guidelines and adjust the brightness - that's about it..

Yup. That is what I had. Now nothing in Entune.

Also I cannot get the Entune update to work. Nothing happens when I insert a BLANK 4GB (with only the software on it).

Now that you mention turning on/off guidelines, that sounds familiar. I haven't messed with the head unit in a long time. If you have switches, I'd definitely test them to see what they do (from the drivers seat of course, ejector seat only works on the passenger side ;)).

Could be a fuse issue - since you didn't install the wiring I'd probably spend some time chasing all the aftermarket electronics down to make sure it's done properly. I've read these things can be finicky with aftermarket wiring (lights, cameras, remote starts, etc.) and who knows how those things were installed.

I "think" Toyota killed Entune and now you have to use their "Toyota App". It's a little frustrating as it is, of course, laden with ads - but it works..

Many with many more to go
Or they could have had it powered to a switch bank and took it out of the vehicle when they sold it. Only way to know is to pull the head unit and start tracing wires to and from the cameras.

Thanks all! I found the issue while watching a video on installing and anytime backup cam.

One of the plugs related to the cams is unplugged and terminated. Where the heck do I get a replacement plug???? Or even know how to wire it if I find one???

Take a picture of what your connection issue is.

I am missing the plug where the red arrow is. The four wires are the ones that are cut/teminated.

    Thanks!
