So I ditched the stock dunlop at’s which I think were a load index 113, picked up some bf good rich ko2s load range C with a load index of 112…called BF good rich to ask the recommended PSI and they declined to tell me because I am 1 number below the stock speed index. Is this a safety issue? It seems like it would be a minimal difference. On to the main question. Anyone here run the 265/70r17 ko2’s in a C load and if so what PSI did you find nice and did you ever have a blow out at higher speeds. Thanks!!! To my math seems like a 66 lbs per corner difference but with higher PSI should be achievable.

I had stock size KO2's in load range C after I ditched my Dunlops at 1300 miles. If you run it through the calculator on tire size.com it tells you to run 44. But, I ran 35 and they wore perfectly. They all measured 80% tread after 29,000 mi when I traded them for 285s.

Also, I drove the shit out of it and never had any problems. Check the maximum recommended speed on BF Goodrich's website. I believe you're not supposed to go over like 99 mph or something.

Thanks, maybe I will try a equal 40 to exceed the minimum weight capacity hopefully. I do tow and haul on occasions rather be safe, as for speed I don’t really go past 85 to often lol. The TPMS said 36 per tire when leaving the facility today and felt good.

I ran 33-34psi on my LT265/70R17 Load C and LT285/70R17 Load C. I'm almost stock weight in addition to non heavy hrew sliders and aluminum skids.

I’m running this same tire in the same size. 35 psi is the sweet spot for me with good ride on pavement but still grippy enough on dirt (haven’t yet been brave enough to take my shiny 4Runner on anything that requires airing down). I have none of the shakes/shimmies that others complain about—I hit 89 mph on the interstate just today and they were smooth.

I also ran a set of KO2 E load 35s on my lifted Jeep and only ran those at 28 psi because they were so stiff. Still had LOTS of tread left after five seasons thanks to regular rotations.

I’m a new 4Runner owner and new to this forum. Just don’t get the KO2 hate I see around here, I think it’s an awesome tire.

Lot of hate for KO2s on 4Runner crowd.
JL Rubicon with 35s from factory comes with BFG KO2 Load C and they are rated to take the Rubicon trail as is.

To clarify your conversation with BFGoodrich, was it load index or speed rating?

If you went from a 113 to 112 load index, you lowered your tire's combined carrying capacity by 264 pounds. This in turn lowered your potential vehicle payload. I imagine BFG wouldn't give you a tire pressure as your new configuration isn't a factory tested/recommended configuration.

If it was a speed rating, pretty much anything Q rated and above will be fine. Q is the lowest speed rating I've ever seen for a 4Runner sized tire.

Same tire, same size. I run 38 or 39 lbs in mine. Wear even, last for 50,000 +. I love KO2's.

Have the same tires also now for approx 26,000 miles. Tires still look new. I run 36-38 on road. We go to the beach several times a month and typically will air down to 22 when the sand conditions are bad or really soft. Always air back up before the drive home.
Been really happy with the KO2's. Great in the sand.

If I'm not mistaken 265s come with better speed rating of S.
Also I remember I had 2 options with 285 with a speed rating of Q and S. If I can remember correctly Q was the only available in stock and S was to order. May be S was available with white letters and Q was the only option with with black letters. Something like that, can't remember exactly now.

I wouldn't be concerned about it. The KO2's load carrying capacity is still well above the 4runner's GVWR.

BFG wont give you an answer since it is out of their "legal" specs. No brainer there. But what's funny is KO2's came as 265/70/17 C load as stock on my 2017 JKU Chief edition. 3,950lbs. My TRD OR came stock with 265/70/17 and is 4,750lbs. I ran my lighter weight JKU with 34psi in the winter, 36psi in the summer. I could air down to 12psi with no issues. JKU's run a bit rougher on the highway than 4Runners IMO and require less psi for comparatie comfort levels when comparing to a 4Runner. 4Runners are more forgiving on the highway allowing you to run a higher psi and improve gas mileage, if that's important to you.
