    Hey 4Runner fam,

Finally made the move and got me a 2014 SR5. I've been doing some basic mods like lights, roof rack, interior stuff.
I just recently put a 2 inch rough country level on the front and left the back stock. I still have the stock 17" wheels with the 265/70r17 tires. I'm pretty content on keeping the rims for now, but I want larger tires. I have a buddy wanting to sell me 285/75r17 open country at's. In y'all experience will there be any issues? if so, how much trimming will i have to do?

75's are going to be taller and skinnier than the more common 285/70R17 size.

It seems there is no hard and fast rule to how much trimming is needed. You just have to put them on and commit to making them work.

I am running 285/70/17s in a tire that runs a true 33' diameter. On stock rims, I had very little rubbing by doing some minor grinding with a sander and 80-grit pads, along with a heat gun on the rear mud flaps.

When I went to a rim with a -12 offset and another 1.5" in width, I had to break out the sander and the heat gun and take another 1/2" off everything. It still looks stock and works great.

But, the tire you quoted is a full 34" tire. That is another inch taller than what I am running. So, you are in uncharted territory and may or may not be able to get by with just some minor grinding. Doing the body mount chop is a whole 'nother level of commitment as it requires cutting with a torch or cutting wheel, then fabricating a patch, and welding it on, then finishing and painting.

285/75/17 is almost a 34" tire. Yes its going to rub... a lot even with your RC kit.
Im running the same kit (2F/1R) with 275/75/17's (32.2" diameter) and had a slight rub in reverse, at full lock both ways, when the suspension was slightly compressed without the kit installed. After, no rub anywhere at anytime.
I would look for a 285/70/17's. They would require some trimming but very little compared to the 286/75's...

edited for those that are ass hats on here....

Umm! Not to point out the obvious but you have quite a few mistakes in your post. Did someone switch the keys out on your keyboard to mess with you?
    1. You said 285/75/17 is 44”. It is 34”
    2. You said you have 275/77/17. It is 275/75/17
    3. You said 286/75’s. It is 285/75/17
Anyways take it from someone who is actually running 285/75/17 they are a bigger tire and I wasn’t afraid to trim. I like them but man are they heavy. Stock tires I feel are little babies compared to these beasts. Just like I imagine these feel like little babies compared to 40” tires. Anyways picture time…

    The mall shot:
    A4353210-9572-4830-8919-21E3361ECCB8.jpg
The rear tire compressed (other side mostly fully extended):
    5DB78AC6-681D-4ACF-92AC-F64601F79828.jpg

Front driver tire compressed and turned at the rub points. You can see I don’t have the front mud flaps and the plastic parts on the side. I also have a BMC:

Im glad you pointed out what was easily understood by others as a typo. I guess I will send all my future posts thru you for editing and proof reading. ;)

Did you read the OP's post? He is using a spacer lift. Not a full blown lift, high clearance front bumper and full chop for clearance like your ride, which looks good looking BTW.

Well I wasn’t trying to be a “dick”. Sorry if I offended you in some way or another. I see people address spelling mistakes, I figured pointing out numerical mistakes would be okay. guess not. :crapstorm:

Thank you for the feedback. I put some time and more money than I would like to admit into the vehicle.

Not sure how to take this. Legit would like to meet on the trail? Or get shot :laser: if you see me on the trail? :notsure:

I saw the Kawi green springs...Are you running an Ironman 4x4 kit? How do you like it and how does it ride on and off road?

Yep. I have the Ironman FCP stage 3 on it.

edit: because I failed to read. :(
I like it a lot. It handles on road way better than stock. Off-road I can’t tell much of a difference where I am at because it is all slow moving. However, when I was in Arizona I had the stock and I could tell I was heating up that suspension. Wish I had these on it before I moved (was supposed to but Ironman got delayed twice so they had to ship to the new address).

285/75/17's will rub. I had to significantly trim the front fender, perform a BMC and pinch weld mod. You will also need a decent lift kit in the 3" range. Rough country is shit, I wouldn't let my worst enemies run it.

Yeah yeah okay you ain’t wrong. I am running a stiffer spring than stock to account for my 200# bumper that I didn’t have installed yet. Plus my wife was driving (first time for her while we went off-road. We are working her comfortability level up). Anyways I have no pictures that can compete. But nice flex.

Yeah, if you rubbed with those there's some parts missing.
