What do current OEM running boards look like?

Toyota saw fit to add running boards to my 2022 ORP I have been waiting 5 months for (along with the premium plus package, the jerks). Wondering if anyone has a picture of them installed on a 2022. Are there 2 different styles of running board, or just 1? I am not talking about the predator steps, just the basic running board.

Google images can be a very good friend to you, or even the Toyota official website as well. It’s a basic running board nothing special.

If you google image 2022 4 runner running boards literally the first 2 pictures are the 2 OEM choices pulled and also linked to the official toyota webpage…

Unfortunately not the results I see. Don't think I didn't look around on google and the toyota website trying to find this before i came here. If you select the option on the build page it does not show them on the picture.

Not really trying to start a debate, I just don't know if there are more than 1 style running board on 2022, and if anyone has a pic of their rig with the oem running boards that come on an ORP. It will help calm me down for the next 5 weeks that my 4runner is in a boat.

I had the same question as you OP. Check out post numbers 10 and 12 in the linked thread for photos. As far as I can tell, those are the old version of OEM running boards. They’re wider and slightly longer than the ones offered now on the 4runner build page on the Toyota website.

I haven’t seen photos of the new version on the forum, but I bet there are a few around here. I’m not sure when Toyota switched from the wider to narrower version.

Thank you! I wonder if they are the same style that come in the 2022's.

Seems kinda similar to regular OEM
Not sure why there is a ram in there

These look like the version that is no longer offered. If you google the part number for the older ones that you have (that I found in older forum posts), only images of the new ones show up. They appear to have the same part number (as far as I can tell, but I could be wrong).

These also appear to be the older version. So maybe they switched in 2022?

It's surprisingly hard to figure out what the current running boards look like. And you need to know what they look like to know if the picture you are seeing is accurate (in which case you don't really need to look it up because you already know lol). I appreciate the replies. Still don't know if there are 2 styles (trail vs normal)?

The part number of the current “Trail” running board option has the same part number as the older wider ones. (based on my recent research into this question)

I’d be happy to be debunked lol. I’m trying to figure out the same thing as the op.

Strangely my boards are costing me $345, which doesn't seem to match up to any of those options. There is a true mystery here...

It should state the type I would assume? I don’t know when I ordered mine I didn’t add running boards, didn’t want them!

I posted some pictures in the referenced thread but can add them here. Mine were indeed the $345 "Running Boards" option which are different than the "Trail Running Boards" which are $599. So I think you're getting the same ones that I got.

It’s interesting though… I can’t find new running boards like yours for sale online. Which leads me to believe they’ve been discontinued?

As I mentioned before, I found the part number for yours in a thread from a few years back. But when I google search it, the “Trail” boards are the only search returns I get (and the part number matches on both versions of the running boards).

The port added options to my 2022 ORP like there is no tomorrow. I didn’t want the running boards but my vertically challenged wife loves them. And they look pretty good too.

Seems like every dealer is different, when I built mine on the computer @ dealer it arrived exactly how I wanted except it had door edge guards & wheel locks that i didn’t order or want but I guess it was close enough.

Might the answer be regional? I believe all the running boards are installed at either the port or your dealer. When I had them installed on my last 4Runner what I wanted were the ones OP has. But what I got were the trail boards.

Seems like the extra $1200 for a premium plus package gives you this

I wish! I ordered the sliding rear cargo deck and did not get it. When I said they added 1200 bucks in options I was estimating he combined cost of the running boards (345) and the premium plus package (840, I think?). And they also tacked an extra $500 onto the base price between March when I ordered it and now. I am working with the dealer who is working with the toyota rep on this, hopefully there will be a price concession because it is costing me almost 2k more than it was supposed to and lacks the wheels and sliding rear cargo deck that I ordered.

Interestingly I see that every KDSS equipped ORP in inventory on the toyota website locater also comes with the premium plus package. It is not a required package addition when you use the builder tool. That it, selecting KDSS does not necessitate premium plus, but it seems like maybe that's just how they build them. Which really gets me upset with Toyota. I have been waiting 5 months and they only partially honored my order.

As I understand it, Toyota doesn’t accept “orders”. You give a dealer your preferences, and they try their best to match your preferences from the list of vehicles they are allotted from Toyota.

If the one they find for you doesn’t have all your preferences, you can turn it down and wait for another. But in this current market, that’s a risk on your end. You might never get exactly what you want.

I guess I came out pretty lucky, seems like nobody is getting the rear sliding cargo decks. And you are right on the orders, you get what’s closest if your dealer gives a shit.

Here is what the $345 running boards look like on the 2022 TRD ORP. Dealer texted me pics today. Well she's a car salesman, not a photographer, so it'll have to do for now!A485E7D4-A261-4B82-BCF8-9886DFC89CC8.jpg

This deepens the running board mystery. I can’t find those for sale anywhere.
