Finally finished my 3/1 lift on my 2021 4 runner limited!

Yes mines silver. I called my body shop guy to get a quote but he’s been busy and hasn’t gotten back to me yet. I keep looking on eBay for used silver flares.

 

To give you a baseline, I got 3 quotes to paint the fenders and all 3 were around $150/$200 to paint both.

 

Sounds about right. I was guessing $500 or so to paint both flares and the rocker trim. I don’t mind the limited bumpers but the rocker trim bothers me for some reason.

 

Same, I prefer the limiteds front end, but the rocker trim is a bit much. I hadn’t even thought about taking it off until I went to paint the trim pieces and had to pull the rockers off to get it out to paint it, and it blew my mind once they were off. It was like an instant 5 inch lift the way it looked so I went the Trail trim route.

 

I’ve had my limited for a year and it’s been a process. Painted the front trims pieces. rear trim piece , the roof rack, lifted it 3” in the front, 1” in the back, and got new tires and I am finally happy with it to the fullest. I told my wife I’m finally done…….until I find something else to do to it lol

 

When I ordered the limited I planned on ditching the xreas, putting on the rocker trim and sliders and 17” wheels. I had the wheels and tires before I got the truck but haven’t done the rest. The xreas rides so nice that I hate to take it out before I have to. But I think painted rocker trim will be that compromise that makes it look slightly lifted but custom. I haven’t seen another one with the trail rocker painted.

@4Runner007 which tires brand/size on the stock 20" rims. Does it ride well in snow/inclement weathers.

 

I went with 275 60 R20 BFG KO2’s. I’ve ran these tires on all my SUV’s the last 20 years (Formerly Called BFG All Terrains). If you rotate then every 5K miles you can easily get 50-60K miles out of them. I ski around 25 days a year and they are the best snow tire I’ve ever driven on. And they are super quite at low speeds, high speeds, and even when slowing down. I won’t ever get anything else.

 

How does the xreas feel off road? I just got a limited and love how the system rides.. haven't done any off roading yet tho
Also you happen to know how large tire you can go with 20" rims at stock height?

You can fit a 255 55 r20 and it won’t rub.

 

In the time you’ve owned your limited did you ever run, or consider running 275/55/R20?

think it’ll fit? Lol

 

The 275 55 r20 would fit if you have - 3” or more lift That’s what I’m going with when my 265 60R 20’s wear out. It’s less than a 1/2 inch bigger in diameter. But stock or with a level spacer definitely won’t fit. I mean, they would fit, you just wouldn’t be able to ever turn lol

Some people on here were able to run it I think. The 275/55/R20 is slightly smaller in diameter than urs (0.6in) just wider

Yea your right, I missed the “55” part. I first had 265 60R 20’s on mine with just the level spacer and it rubbed a little. I was able to take a heat gun to the inner fender and Massage the plastic back so it didn’t run anymore when turning. I would recommend those for sure. The BFG’s also have a little more aggressive sidewall and “teeth” that stick out 1/4 more than other brands.

I’ve been super happy with the Michelin at2 on my 1st gen taco which isn’t too aggressive of an all terrain tire. I’ll probably run those in 275/55/R20 on the 4runner when it’s time to replace the stock tire. In theory wider tire should have prolonged wear too.. Will post a pic when I get em

4Runner007 - those are some very tasteful mods, I think it's one of the best looking LEs out there, congratulations. I know it's a personal thing, but please ditch the 20" wheels, then we could all sleep at night!

All kidding aside, if I could have achieved your level of taste and execution I just might have a less "slightly modified" LE.

Yea, i know buddy. Ive been torn on which rims to go with but will definitely be moving to 17’s soon enough. That will make a big difference in the overall look and off road. Ive been torn with going aftermarket or keeping in all toyota as i have done so far but Im not sure how the TRD Pro Matte Gray would look. I actually kinda like the basic SR5 wheel too lol

 

If you can find a set, may I suggest the Rock Warriors? I had a set of 5, but sold them as they were too narrow.
I really liked them, I wish I could have kept them, but life must go on!
