As I explained in my introduction to the forums, I had a lot of issues with the dealership when I purchased my 4Runner. Then someone ran a key down the passenger side. I had it repaired by a local body shop and I picked up on Friday. Everything looked great until I noticed this yesterday. It’s not even close to lining up.

It really seems like service is slipping in all industries over the last few years.

Some dealerships have great service departments….others are terrible.
Ask around locally & get on the net & research them. The bad ones are pretty easy to spot usually.
I had nothing but problems with my local one & quit using their service dept. years ago. Due to time constraints, I told the wife to get one of the “free” oil changes & rotate tires. Just out of morbid curiosity, I checked the dipstick when she got back & the oil was dark brown…identical to what it looked like prior.
Got with service manager & film footage of the Bay Area revealed it indeed hadn’t been changed. I simply left & vowed to never go back…refused to let them touch it at that point. Probably ended up with a situation similar to yours if I had.

I stopped using the dealership I purchased the 4Runner from immediately after I got it back from them. I have a good mechanic who I’m going to for anything maintenance related.

Maybe an explanation of what that picture is supposed to tell us?

Sorry about that. I thought it was obvious from the picture. The trim that wraps around the rear fender is supposed to sit flush with the black trim piece. Take a look at the drivers side pic and you’ll see what I mean.

Nope. The mud flap is behind the tire. I’m really not sure what they did and how it doesn’t line up perfectly like on the drivers side. I’ve been racking my brain over since I noticed it yesterday.

It’s going back today after work. I partly blame myself for not seeing it when I picked it up but how someone could do that knowing it doesn’t line up is beyond me. I was looking at where the scratches were repaired and not the entire passenger side like I should have been.

It's so frustrating that little things like this happen so often. It seems that noone takes pride in the quality of their work anymore. It's all about quantity and making $.
I refuse to utilize dealerships anymore for service. I've already ranted about my personal experiences on other threads so won't do it here, but yeah, they are mostly evil and will steal your money however they can.

I too not able to understand completely. I was thinking the first pics were from TRD Sport / Limited trying to fix SR5/TRD running boards.

I hope the part numbers are correct against the trims. For example for a TRD Sport / Limited it has to be a running board for TRD Sport / Limited.

If someone try to fix a SR5 / TRD running board to a TRD Sport / Limited would need to buy the correct rocker pannel, filler plastic for front, etc.

Eg from my TRD ORP how it looks vs Limited-

    upload_2022-8-8_10-20-37.jpg
    upload_2022-8-8_10-21-39.jpg
    upload_2022-8-8_10-23-12.jpg
    upload_2022-8-8_10-25-6.jpg

I won't be able to get a flush finish for my Limited in rear as there is no filler plastic if I try to use SR5/TRD rocker panel to get sliders or SR5/TRD style steps as far as I know. So Limited / TRD Sport will not have a flush finish in the back with SR5/TRD rocker panels (as far as I know).

It’s an SR5. The piece of trim is sticking out and it’s supposed to be flush.

This does not belong to SR5 as shown on my pics. This is for Limited / TRD Sport

Part of me had a feeling that they used the wrong part. Thanks for pointing that out.

So @kmeeg was correct. The body shop is taking care of it once they get the right part in and paint it.

So the question is, does your dealer ahve a body shop or did they farm it out? My only true local dealer here farms their work out.

This was a body shop totally unrelated to the dealer. I used these guys from an insurance claim when my truck was keyed up along the passenger side.

Ya, I'd make sure to include your adjuster for ANY conversation you have with the body shop. Mistakes happen, but the fact they didnt prefit it to see it was the wrong part number BEFORE prep, paint and install is just dumb. Make sure the guy is wearing a respirator in the paint booth!

LOL!!! Which goes back to my original post about service. Things happen I get it but whoever installed it knew it was wrong and just left it that way.
