I need to put a CarPlay unit in our 2018 SR5 Premium (no JBL) for my wife. What harnesses do I need to retain my steering wheel controls, etc? Crutchfield says I need $250 worth of stuff, and Sonic Electronix says I need WAY less. Looking at the Trail Grid Pro option as well, although I’ve never been a Sony Head Unit guy. Someone point me in the right direction!

I went with the maestro/idata link with my new (then) head unit. Install took me about 17 minutes start to finish. Everything works like oem from the steering wheel controls, volume up/down, track skip and the like, and the maestro gave me "gauges" i can see everything from MPH, RPM, battery voltage, and a billion other things, right on the HU. Just what i went with/did.

Edit- 2018 OR here. Non JBL, replaced dash, and front door speakers, subs, added 2 amplifiers, dsp, and 4700lbs of deadener and second battery (under hood)

I’ve looked at a couple of that style and I think they require a bit more constant “tinkering” than I want in my wife’s vehicle. They do look good though.

Looks correct. I bopped on my 20 year plus Crutchfield account, and brought the order up. Hope you can see the pics.
Exactly how much you need, im not sure, but this should get you rolling for sure. (Looks like you're on it).

And im assuming youll need a dash kit. At the time, they only had silver when i did this, but i paint matched mine, now they have the dark bezzle. Unless yours is silver. Anyway.

Plug and play. The dash comes apart dumb easy. Everything was simple, plug and play. Setting the maestro up took 10 mins on my potato laptop. Easy peasy.

Good luck. Also, if theres anything here that may help you. Good luck mate. (I love car audio, and music. Its a must have for me)

Still running it to this day. Gauge display, gps/navigation, clean output, is great. This is years old, and there times change fast. But yep, im still running this deck/HU today.
