    Folks

I just joined this and read a few of the comparisons on LED/HID/Halogen and I have tried LED and they just don’t project but are bright for the first ~20’ but suck otherwise. These are Seallight ones that I bought on Amazon.

I am looking for some insight on what the best route to go is given the issue with the LED’s and the stock deflection housing that is designed for halogen lights. What is the brightest and most like an LED output (so I can leave the high beam and fog light LED since they’re fine)? Thoughts? I just want a really bright nighttime light for the low beam that doesn’t make the LED fog lights look odd with them.

    Thanks

I replaced the halogens low beams in my 2013 TE with DDM Tuning Saber 55W ProX Accu V2 and I can attest that these lights have WAY out performed the OEM halogens in terms of brightness, and they are well focused, with a clean top cutoff. These aim well up the road , and I recommend them highly.

Don’t waste your time experimenting with drop-in LED bulbs in your halogen housings.
Try the H9 bulb conversion first. It’s easy, inexpensive, and reliable. If that isn’t enough light for you the best bet is to get all new Toyota LED headlights.

No joke, I did this and holy crap! I have zero interest in swapping out or dropping $1k+ for new headlight assembly

    Yes!

I had the brightest H11's I could find, and the cheapo H9's I picked up have better output. I will recommend it to anyone who asks.

H9 bulb is the best bang for buck upgrade you can do. Hid/led in halogen housing merely give you an illusion as it dumps most of the light in the foreground. Too much foreground lighting also makes it harder for you to see down the road. Win win with h9.

Which is the brightest h11 you had? (Serious question, not sarcastic question)
I had xtreme vision halogen h11s but LEDs like GTR Ultra2 and nilight were very bright and they taking less current never look back on halogens.

I was gonna suggest trying the Sylvania higher output H11’s but sounds like that’s already been tried. We use them in the Sequoia and they work well. But brighter bulbs usually have a shorter life.

    Actually, I misspoke.

I bought the brightest high beams, the Osram Nightbreaker unlimited. The headlights are the Nightbreaker Lasers, so they're not quite as bright.

But even if the unlimited were brighter than the H9, an upgraded H9 would be brighter still.

I have used Sylvania bulbs in the past with good results. I can't recall how I found out about the Osrams.

Mirroring the previous comments, don't waste your time with LEDs in the stock housings. The links they already provided have the best/worst comparison. These sideways projector housings suck. And plenty of YouTube vids on it too.

After researching, i just upgraded the whole headlight assembly.
