Painted Calipers

I've owned a few Ford Mustangs and it was fairly common to have the calipers painted. My last Mustang was white and I painted the calipers dark Ford Motor Blue. Looked good.

I've noticed that I don't see many painted calipers on 4Runners. I think it would look sharp with black wheels (like the popular TRD wheels that I am running) and although I sometimes like to think that I don't care what others think, I really do. Sad - I know.

So, what's the deal, red calipers on a 4Runner would look wrong and we should leave the painted calipers for the Honda Civics, Acura Integras and Ford Mustangs?

If you're painting for looks, it's pobably gonna get messed up if you wheel it, so if people paint the calipers on their truck it's usually some black, easy to touch up, rust-preventative paint.

Yeah why not. Probably in Matte Gray to match the TRD Pro wheels.

my toyota calipers are factory silver color .. looks good as it matches the wheels. also they are painted unlike GM trucks like my 2000, which then messes up the alloy painted wheels . so ON my GM truck I did paint them a high temp flat black .. being that color and protected I still have the 17 year old front calipers. the rear calipers did not have a rust problem but the pistons being made of some funky material got distorted @20K miles so I had to replace them .. I then painted those also flat black ..

toyota does a better job on component protection compared to GM ..I recommend painting them if not painted or if rust appears. you do not want iron on the alloy wheels .. brake pads iron dust not good.
