Best lift kit

Hey everyone Im new to the thread but is affiliated with tacoma world just wondering what lift kit would be best for the 4runner with kdss system I know no more than 3 inches but what would you guys recommend thanks

Welcome from Wisconsin! There are many to pick from, you can research a little on the forum and make a decision based on your needs. Lift kits have come a long way in the past few years. Remember... sometimes you get what you pay for. We have a cheap leveling kit on ours, while I don't expect much from it, it gave me 'time' to put off spending big money on the Elka setup we are probably getting anyway! Good luck.

 

"Best" is pretty subjective. You'll get varying opinions there.

Every good manufacturer has KDSS options. I run Bilstein 6112's at 2.4" in front and 5100's in back with 1.5" heavy load lift coils. It's a good budget setup.

Fox, King, Elka, Toytec, Dobinson, Radflo, and some others all have good options for you.

Sorry for thread jacking but this question is for “thatbassguy” how much lift did you get from the HD rear springs and do they sag at all when you load up your rig? Thanks again sorry for the thread Jack.

I actually have never measured, other than to check for lean. I think I got the advertised 1.5" lift. They are the Bilstein coils.

It sits a tad higher when I completely unload it. But, I keep a slight rake when I am fully loaded. The only time it starts to sag is if I'm loaded and towing. But, even then, it's probably closer to what some consider level than really sagging.

I definitely recommend the springs if you will have a lot of constant weight.

 

I run Eibach shocks that level my 4R, and am quite happy with the setup. That being said, if I'd done my research a little longer, Elka would be my choice (and may yet) as discussed in this thread by @Oldtoyotaguy:

Yeah I tow a small trailer and when I’m loaded up I am definitely sagging. I was looking at the Eibach HD springs also but they advertise 1.75-2.2 inch lift, I’ve read that some guys with other springs don’t get the advertised lift. Thanks for your response.

 

There is no universal option, the right lift kit is going to depend on what you specifically do with the truck.

 

I have a 2020 ORP with KDSS. Went with the Bilstein 6112s up front 5160s in the rear with Icon 2" springs. The truck handles fantastic. It is much stiffer then my wife's stock 2017 ORP with KDSS. I don't do any rock crawling, but for dirt / rocky roads and around town driving I am very happy with it. Oh and my wife is jealous .

 

That setup seems to be the best bang for the buck. Plus due to its popularity, replacement parts should be available for the foreseeable future.

 

I went straight to accutune off road and asked who makes the best? They said Fox, and surprisingly went with those thinking they were going to say king when asking. I have the 2.5 resi and could not be happier.
