I have seen many videos on the magnesum...supercharger. is this worth it? Does it have the potential to damage other parts of the vehicle. Thanks to all.

Anything has the potential to damage other parts. It really depends on how you take care of it, and if its a quality product from a reputable company. Everything about the Magi SC is included with the kit to help ensure proper operation and long life of the vehicle as well as the SC its self. Thats why it costs so much. I have not driven one in a newer 4Runner, but have in Tacos, Civics and some trashed out Fords. Some people say you cant really feel 70-80 more HP in a car thats already over 300... they are lying. The cars ( from stock engines to a forced induction) really wake up and just become that more fun to drive everywhere. If you have the money and dont mind dropping it on the Magi kit, go for it. Look at spending an extra 800-100 for a good CAI and exhaust to help her breathe a few more ponies into her.

Got the TRD supercharger on my Tacoma and off the bat it wasn't all that great and actually ran slower at the track then when I had intake and exhaust. I had to pulley down to really experience power gains. I was as fast as a stock Ecopoop Raptor and faster than a Ecopoop Mustang. In the end it never seemed to run correctly on the very conservative (black smoke on the 1 to 2 shift) Toyota tune so I stopped putting money into it and bought a GTO.

I would get the kit for the Runner though because of the updated supercharger internals and for the not so conservative tune. Of course as with any power adders, other components can fail easier if you abuse it. I had many supercharged 4wd launches without issues and just followed a strict maintenance guide.

    Super chargers are cool,

Just remember, there’s no free lunch. In order to increase power output of an internal combustion engine, you can increase the displacement (cylinder volume), increase RPM or pressure in the combustion chamber (supercharger).

Increasing cylinder pressures can increase stresses on the engine.

If Toyota still offered the SC as an aftermarket kit, installed by a Toyota tech, with no warranty repercussions......I'd be on that kit like a fly on $hit....

Well guys, I admit that I caved today after so much thinking and pondering over this supercharger. @whippersnapper02 - he helped me with a lot of good advice on other threads. So I bought it...it will be mid August when I get it. Will report to you all how it does on my 2020.

I will most definitely report back. Today I was told that by mid September I will get my unit. I wish I was handy enough to do it myself but on this occasion I will get this to a shop that has done several of these installs. I will try to get pics and the story on this install for ya"ll.

I wish I could Just get access to a T4R with a supercharger to test it out and see if it’s worth the upgrade… I just want to drive one before I make such a big purchase. Know what I mean?

People add craptor lights and widdle wadders all the time and they do absolutely nothing. They don't even look good. It's just preference of the user no matter how expensive or ridiculous the mod. Doesn't mean you can't haze them for it though. :D

I have a supercharger on my X-Runner. I did the install myself. To get the most out of it, you need headers. You also need a way to tune it. I chose to slightly overdrive the supercharger with different pulleys. I also added a 7th fuel injector. You usually need a bigger fuel pump to stay ahead of the injectors. I did the install at 18,XXX miles. At 107,XXX miles I have had no issues, other than general maintenance.

The last dyno I did, I pulled slightly over 350 HP/350ft-lbs (at wheels).

It has been a blast and I would do it again. However, if I was not capable of doing the install or the maintenance, I would not do it.

I remember you. You always had a clean setup and you passed along the info on the K&N filter type.

I can't remember what I purchased. My Tacoma when to scrap afterlife after someone decided to run a red right turn. I had issues with my blower setup. It ran rich all the time even after pulley swap. It made 264 before the pulley but power was always inconsistent.

    Sorry about your X-runner death.

My guess would be an oil pan spacer or maybe a short shifter.

Auto DCSB 4WD. I'd get a good puff of black smoke on the 1 to 2 shift. I blame the TRD tune.

Auto DCSB does not need a short shifter or oil pan spacer.

I would blame the tune too.

I am using an APR X-1 to control engine tuning. I was fortunate to have David Phillips (of APR) to do the tuning.

As much as I’ve wanted the extra power, it’s hard for me to justify as the additional $7k gets me in base GX460 territory which solves more of my “wants”.

Well....the news is that this thing is worth it. I have been running the Maggie for two weeks straight and what a difference. The tunning alone has made a big difference, no searching for gears or waiting for more gas..or any of the annoying stuff. And yes, when you get on it, the power is there. I am not racing or doing anything irresponsible on the road, but when you get on a ramp, or need to pass quickly, the Maggie has it. So far so good. On the gas, I am still at 15mph...heavy foot here. So can't tell yet if the unit is pulling more gas or not. Would I do it again? Yes, should I put on the tacoma...not sure. But for now....I think is fine on the 4R, and I am done with mods. No mo.
