Well damn it. I pulled forward too far in my parking garage and bumped my lower valance area. Since this is a lease, I guess I'm going with a stock part to cover it. I just need to find a TRD Pro lower valance. I guess I could go all in and go with a lo pro from bumper but then if I want to sell it then I might have issues. I might just plastidip it and if it sucks then I can go with the TRD Pro valance. I'm a moron.

Can you expand on what you have going on on the steering wheel? A fix for the extremely annoying peeling maybe...?

As someone once said, "It's the little things that count. Put the mountain decals (thanks to forum member MyWyfsRnnr) who set me up with them. Love the look and although I'm not completely sure I think they actually increased the off-road capabilities of my 4R by .0000231%.

Thanks for the vid! Now I don’t have an excuse not to do it. Question...it’s the regular USB port by the shifter right? Not some hidden thing in the head unit?

Didn’t wanna start a new thread but can’t really find the answers…sorry

I have a blue sea fuse box with ground n all that…hooking up external lights, probably my comms n my dual compressor

what EXACTLY do I need to hook up to battery n what not?
    Thicker wires, relays, disconnects, etc

I know this is vague but that’s cause I’m horrible with terminology n not sure what ?’s to really ask yet

but to stay true to thread recently repainted n installed sliders(alone with horrible tools n on a hot rocky driveway, H11-H9 swap, DrKDSS sway bar toggle guy, fixed ultimate camping mod n rebuilding shower with pressure regulator

Now eject seat button enables on the menu.. :p:p

    Items with this update-
    • Apple CarPlay does not start immediately after connecting iPhone.
    • Intermittent Radio Rebooting.
    • Tune knob doesn’t change the track in all audio sources.
    • Music does not resume when changing the volume, and the audio source is paused.
    • Incorrect FM and XM genre information.
    • Blower motor mode does not match the actual blower mode.

Yes its the regular USB port. Super simple.

Just make sure the engine is running before you start the update. I don't know if its a TRD Pro/Limited JBL thing after some time the headunit turn off to save the battery. Haven't notice it on my SR5/TRD ORP. Keep the engine running would be a safe bet. It only takes about 10minutes.

IMHO, i like them over the newer ones. I could simply buy the newer microsd card from Amazon and life is good. No BS, trouble free.

Me too. I think the older units look better, as they look more designed around the interior to their respective vehicle. The new units all look the same regardless of the vehicle. I've played with the newer units in the RAV4 and Highlander. They're ok, but I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. I don't use the Entune navigation though. I use the GPS on my phone, I might add Android Auto to my current unit in the future.

Finally got tired of airing up with the small portable kit (and one step closer to an air locker ). Used the M.O.R.E. bracket.

Hey folks! I'm popping over from the Tacoma forum. My truck is getting close to a decent build stage, so I'm starting to work on my partner's 4Runner and am designing some 4Runner electrical mods. I run a small wire harness manufacturing company and specialize in aftermarket OE-style (plug-and-play) harnesses. Today I swapped out the footwell lights in our 4Runner to pink!
    IMG_6962.HEIC.jpg

I designed the harness in this kit for VLEDS. When I asked my partner if I could work on a harness for her truck she told me the only condition is that they make a pink footwell light, so alas here we are now that production is complete :D.

Learned something new about the GPS screen (by accident) I did the updates on the head unit and noticed afterwards that on the maps North was not always up like it was before. I found that if you click on the little direction icon in the upper left corner it switches between three settings, North is always up, up is the direction you are heading, and sort-of 3d (but not very much).

This weekend I did some work on a 2016 4Runner and unfortunately I didn't get a picture, but I will say I got a look at the BAMF sliders they had installed. I am impressed with those sliders. Lots of bolt holes, very sturdy setup. If you're thinking about putting sliders on take a look at those cuz they are pretty nice. I have bud built on mine that I'm also very happy with. The BAMF just impressed me when I was under there

I have a harness that lets you use your inverter at 400W while in motion and add an outlet wherever you want. Here's one of my vendors that sells it:
    https://guildoutfitters.com/products/400w-in-motion-harness-by-redside-electric

It's designed for the Tacoma, but I could make a super long version so that someone could plug the harness into the 4Runner's inverter (in the back of the truck) and run a long extension to the cab area where you can add a more useful outlet. It's on a shorter leash for the Tacoma because the inverter is located under the center console. Pin mappings are all the same, though, so it would just be a matter of making an extension.

I'm working on some plug-and-play switch illumination harnesses so you can illuminate your switches in the cab without splicing crap. Makes those OE-style switches light up like the factory and makes them dimmable. Tacoma version here:
    https://tacomabeast.com/collections...asy-plug-and-play-switch-illumination-harness

I'm also open to whatever you 4Runner people might want. Been doing this a while, so if you have a wild electrical idea you want to made into plug-and-play I'm all ears. I don't know the T4R market (hence why I'm here), so it'd be good to hear what you all want.

Jerry has been building great shit for years. He also has 5th gen bumpers but I'm not sure you'd want the hoop since it seems right at the RADAR hight--idk for sure though but it is a nice bumper. I have one of his hybrids on my Tacoma as well as these cool brackets that add a great deal of strength to the bumper. And skid plates. Bay Area Metal Fab does great work.

Yeah, I went to the Pelfrey liquidation and almost got one of the Alum bumpers but chickened out. I have installed a ton of his stuff here during mod days because the Sacramento guys go pick up their stuff and split fuel cost to save on shipping (might not be worth it anymore haha). This was the first time I saw their sliders on a 5th gen and they looked decent for sure. Styling of their bumper for the 5th gens is not my cup of tea but i am sure it is a good product.

"Baby Got New Shoes". Replaced the Dunlop Grandtrek AT20's with a set of Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus in the stock (265 70 R17) size. Wasn't looking to go any larger and I'm not going to do a lift. Just wanted a more aggressive tread pattern and better grip if I do take it out in the fields, etc. Main focus was I didn't want to put a heavier tire on and wanted something that also had a quiet ride. Most of the reviews I read mentioned that it was a very quiet tire. It also has a high (640) treadwear rating and has the 3 Peak Snowflake, although we don't usually get a ton of snow here in Central Kentucky.

Have only driven them from the tire store to home but I didn't notice any additional road noise over the Dunlop's. The Load Index on the Dunlop's is 113 and the Pirelli's are 115 so it's not a significant increase but I do feel like it was a little firmer on turns, which is fine with me. I really think I'm going to like these tires.

As I get more miles on them I'll keep the forum updated on my views.
