Toyota Pricing WOW!!

Looks like the new gen will see about a $10,000 price hike on average across the trims. Would you pay $10,000 more for a new gen 4Runner with better mpg and higher torque with no front locker? Here are the new gen Sequoia price hikes. I can't believe they're jacking up the prices this much and they're not even fully electric yet. Only way I would pay $10,000 more as if it was fully plug in electric with double the torque and I no longer had to spend money on any gas. Guess what Toyota is the new Lexus.

 

Not sure, but I think I saw those prices somewhere for a Sequoia, not a 4Runner. I could be mistaken, though.

 

Yes that is for the New Gen Sequoia. They did similar price hikes on the New Gen tundra for 2022 as well so I think it's safe to say that the new gen 4Runner will see about the same.

 

And why would a TRD pro cost more than a platinum

 

if people are lining up to buy them at the current price, the price is too low. That's why the price hike, IMO.

And what's new for the 4r vs the competitors? 4r hasn't changed much, competitors have totally redesigned the vehicles

 

Yes but domestics traditionally put MSRP out considering steep incentives and discounts but Toyota doesn't do incentives and discounts unfortunately lol

 

They're definitely raising 2023 prices even though it will still be a 5th gen. Will be interesting to see sales numbers as gas prices and economy keep taking a deeper shit with no end in sight

 

Almost everything is up ~20% here I’d guess, aside from fuel. I can see this translating into similar auto price increases. Unless manufacturers have years of supply purchased ahead of time their purchasing power can only reduce prices to a degree.

 

Toyota wants all that equity and value back you built up in your 5th gen LOL

 

The Sequoia (Capstone) replaces the Land Cruiser as Toyota's flagship. It's no surprise the prices are higher especially when you look at the previous generation and how old and outdated it was. I doubt the 4Runner will see the same price increases as the market/buyers are different.

 

I hope you're right but I doubt it. Toyota's dropping the hammer on these truck frame vehicles. Especially the forerunner floating around out there with no competition. I would imagine Nissan will be going to work on the Xterra or Pathfinder drop it on a truck frame and undercut the 4Runner by 5-$10k

 

I wouldn't go with the Nissan for $5,000 less but I would buy it for 10,000 less than the 4Runner

 

The thing I like most about Nissan is there not afraid to have a base s model and not start at the SV level. An SR trim 4Runner would be outstanding. As long as they didn't pull the detuning stunt like they did on the new SR tundra

 

I think those increases are very reasonable given inflation.

All this should be expected by now.

Nothing should surprise anyone.

I have a 4R. I won't be buying another vehicle unless this one dies which might be after I do.

 

Simply just keeping up with the markets, 4x4 Tahoes range from 57k to 77k without add ons

 

Time for everybody to get comfy with a creeper and a gallon or two of woolwax. Gotta make sure these things stay solid to endure the decades. . This couldnt be a better vehicle for the job.

 

Yep I plan to do that and drive the Accord in the salt and bs until I can go to Florida, TX or AZ for winters. I’ll put the fluid film on each year and park her for winter

 

I just turned 72. Sure glad I purchased my 4R in March of 21'. It just turned 13K miles. But I retired this past January and will likely put less than 10K a year on the clock. Just finished having the second Krown Rustproofing application, which I will continue to do each year. It's usually garaged and regularly cleaned, waxed, and otherwise maintained. So, with the current rate of inflation, this may be my last vehicle. So I feel lucky to own one of the later 5th Generation.

I'm old enough to remember the inflation of the late 1970's and early 1980's. Long gas lines at the pump, 55MPH speed limit, and 18% interest rate to finance a vehicle. The OP's posted pricing also reflects how much the U.S. Dollar has depreciated. Especially in the last year and a half. Elections do in fact have consequences. The manufacturer I retired from said they have had 5 price increases in just the last 1 1/2 years. Most in it's 160 year history.

I hope we don't repeat a 70/80's type recession. Part of what the OP's pricing will include what Toyota believes will be forthcoming in 2023 with the cost of raw material and labor. With the price of new vehicles, watch for 8-10 year financing being the norm.

First off; you're looking at a $10K price hike on a vehicle that costs 36% more than the 4Runner to begin with. So, a $6-7K difference would be more consistent.

Second; thanks again to all of the assholes who ran out and paid over MSRP over the last two years because they just couldn't fucking wait to get their new 4Runner. Way to show Toyota that they needed to raise prices!

Aside from that, a massive increase in usable torque while getting significantly better fuel economy sounds damn good to me! But, I'll wait for the market to straighten out before I run out to buy one.

 

My lease is up in 28 months. I will decide then what to do. I can walk away for sure. If gas is $8 I will walk away more than likely. I can trade it for a 6th Gen and probably have plenty of equity in it if they are still holding value. I can buy it outright for around $30K. Pretty good position actually.
