Humming while I drive 35 to 45

Hey was curious if any one knows about a humming noise almost like a loping noise while I drive but stops when I go over 50? I did replace the needle bearing for a bushing and was curious on what else it could be?

 

Could be the infamous vibration that the 4Runners get, or your tires. I get a humm/vibration at lower speeds but goes away at highway speeds.

 

I had the stock tires on before I up graded, would a front diff drop help or is it any serious issue?

 

You could try it, cheap and easy enough to test. I have one and it definitely helped bring the cv angles closer to stock.

 

This started after a tire upgrade?

 

Alright ill check into to and yea right after the lift it started and I only have around 50k miles.

 

And no it was doing it right after the lift with my stock tires.

 

How did you lift, and how high?

 

I just did a 3in suspension lift kit.

 

Next time it’s making the noise, check to see if it goes away if you put into 4hi. Although, with the new bushing, I wouldnt expect that’s the sound. Did you do the bushing at the same time as the lift? If not, was it making the sound after the bushing install?

If you drove the bushing too deep into the diff, it can cause noises if it ends up contacting rotating parts in the diff. Hopefully its not that.

The noise could be coming the driveshafts/pinion angles, wheel alignment, a bad wheel bearing unrelated to the lift…
