    Does the TE have KDSS? If so, that is what I would do. What are the colors?
    Gut says Trail as the difference is mileage is not that vast.

    I LOVE the trail and all the goodies. It is more capable than I am, flat out.

    So I actually own the sr5 currently. It’s black, I’ve had it for 1-year. The more I look the more I hate the giant clunky body panels as opposed to 2nd gen 5th gens and 1st gen TE’s

    I found a TE listed for sale as an SR5 (I don’t think the dealer knows what it is). Grey/silver.

    instead of racking my brain and spending thousands to improve the looks of the sr5 I’m wondering if I ought to just move to the TE instead, before I start making major upgrades

    3rd option is a burgundy TE already on icon stage 4 setup with 285’s, an arb roof rack but 130k miles for 24k

    1st world problems. I’ll probably never exceed the limitations of the sr5

    Holy Crap man, SAME! I got mine from CarMax and they said that it was an SR5 but I sent picture of the interior to my brother. He confirmed it was a TE and said if I didn’t buy it he would.

    My opinion. Go with the TE that is a blank slate and make it your own. Rarely do we get a greenfield to develop that is a used car.

    I would go for the black SR5... Just replace with OEM headlight assembly

    From where I sit the SR5 looks to be much cleaner...

    I get the allure of a TE, but the SR5 definitely appears to be the better truck...?

    And, if I understand it correctly that it's already yours, it would be an easy decision for me.

    @Overland WT Im aiming for a light overland set-up. But truthfully it’s almost a purely aesthetic decision. But I figured why not get the TE bells and whistles if I’m going to spend money upgrading the looks of the sr5 to appear more like a TE…

    The TE looks like it is being sold by a fly by night dealership not by a one that would stand by it's product. I bet the frame has rust since a regular dealership didn't take it. Go with the SR5 as long as it is 4wd.

    @JJRunner03 - how long have you had the SR5? Did you buy it new? A bird in hand, as they say...depending on how long you've had it, what you know about the service, how you've taken care of it, etc., that can go a long way vs. buying someone else's trade, which you know little about, sexy as it seems.

    My thoughts exactly, it appears to be a wholesaler for sure.

    And not sure, but OPs front plate appears to be MA (?) which almost guarantees there is at least some rust underneath (take it from a guy in NH with an '18 that has some rust underneath)...

    I’ve had it for about a year. Clean service ce record with one prior owner and everything maintained through Toyota. Undercarriage is in pretty good shape as well.

    I think y’all have helped me get over my yearning for a TE. I’ll make the most of my SR5. Maybe in a few years a newer model TE will come to me :)

    Whats the rust situation on both of them? Are the calipers & rotors trashed on one of them because of rust? Also look at the rear hatch loop on the back bumper. Is it rusty?

    Congrats if you got the SR5 - it looks good!

    Removing the rocker panel trim and replacing it with the TE trim would go a long way toward changing the look. I don't think that would be horribly costly...

    I've got a 2019 SR5 (Premium)--it does everything I need it to do: Snow (Washington Cascades), blizzards (last year coming out of Reno), forest service roads (Wenatchee National Forest) without bells and whistles to go wrong! I've got about $2K in mine ($3K if you count interior "stuff" like up-graded first aid, etc. & a refrigerator. Granted, I'm an old fart and don't go "overlanding" anymore like I did in my 20's.

    Pic is somewhere in the Rockies in Colorado or Utah last fall

    If it has to be one of those two, I'd get the one that's been maintained the best. The trail looks like it's at a buy here pay here type lot so I'd proceed with caution.

    I had an SR5P and it was really capable off-road. What I hated was not having the factory rear locker. I wheel a lot so that was my justification on upgrading to a ORP. That locker is a life saver in sticky situations.

    If the undercarriage, carfax, and you plan on wheeling; I say get the TE.:)
