Just got a 22 ORP w/XP. Started to read stolen cat stories. Plus some having to wait months for the part to come in. Getting a bit paranoid and want to know what you guys are doing if anything?

    Nada.

im not spending 3,4,5+ hundred dollars for some bullshit “protection plate.” If someone steals it, I’ll just get a new exhaust.

I ordered a set of the C4 full skids, it looks like they should offer some pretty solid cat protection. That said, the protection for the cat is secondary, I wanted bump up the protection for the underside of the truck due to the trails we have here in Arizona.

Also, its not so much the cost of new cats...insurance will cover. It's the lead time for new parts and the inconvenience of not being able to drive your car. Mine were cut out my Tundra last month. There is no ETA for parts. Could be 6 months or more.

Just saying.. this is why people are adding pieces to their skids to protect them. Or, adding parts solely for the purpose of protecting the cats.

The RCI cat plates are only $125-150, so really not bad if you're doing skids anyway.

And, as mentioned earlier, having your vehicle out of commission for weeks or months while the dealership waits for parts would really suck.

Ideally, the car would fall on these cocksuckers while they're trying to steal a cat and save people some trouble. The scrap yards are guilty, also, for handing cash over for stolen goods.

Well, that and the deductible. Most people have $250 or $500 deductible, so the cost of one of these cat plates might be worth it to some people.

    Lots of goodies
I came across this a little while back and went ahead and got it as a deterrent until I can get around to welding some plates onto my skids. https://www.fastguardalarms.com/pages/catalytic-converter-alarm I was able to get it wrapped around both cats, tested it and it works every time. It won’t stop a thief but it will make his presence known and the sound is quite annoying, so hopefully the deterrent factor will be enough.
Steel prices are kinda stupid right now, so for those who don’t already have skids, the RCI deal is not bad at all.

You have to have the skids from RCI in order for their cat guards to work.

True. But, if you're looking at skids anyway, it a good selling point.

I just installed the RSG cat guard. I park in a commuter lot all day, figured it was worth it to install. It works with the stock skid plate and is well made.

Let me work on that. I had asked the installer to take some in case my insurance company wanted evidence, and he forgot to send those to me.
