Yeah, and for the same price, I don't get the luxury of oil running down my arm whilst draining the oil filter reservoir.

how are you liking it still? I just did my wife’s sienna tonight and the dealership did the 10k oil change. The housing broke just trying to get it off. Thank goodness they replaced it for free. I bought what appears to be a better tool. I would like to avoid those ever happening again. So I was looking into the relocation kit and since you have had it in for almost 6 months wanted to get your opinion.

 

Nothing negative to report. No leaks/noises/issues. A pricey mod, but no regrets.

 

Isn’t that going to be a bit messy when you remove the filter?
I think I would prefer the filter orientation to unscrew from the bottom, then you can pre-fill the filter with oil to avoid any potential dry start-ups.

 

Fully agree….Cummins recommends to fill the filter 3/4 up.

To each his own or whatever floats your boat. Just my opinion and not slamming it but wouldn't do it for 2 reasons. The K.I.S.S. principle and if it ain't broke why fix it. Hell I prefer taking down the skid plate as you never know what else you may notice while under there.

 

Yup, I hear you and you're right. To each his own. I will tell you that the two times I dropped that heavy sumbitch of a skid-plate while writhing on the garage floor like an eel out of water, I almost gave myself a hernia. I have no regrets.

 

good to know that baxter's adapter works fine, I have their 501 leftover from my 3.5L Tacoma, and looks like their aren't the same.


I'm thinking ordering the spin-on filter adapter just not having to mess with the cartridge style, relocation is nice but you have to get underneath the vehicle for the drain plug anyway.

So I think to have easy of access, a RCI skid plate which exposes the oil filter + spin-on adapter is a middle ground solution if one doesn't want to go full relocation

 

You do realize that the filter was placed on top of the motor from the factory for years and years right? My 2010 Tacoma is a prime example. YUA MAKA NOA SENSA

 

I bought aluminum skids for this very reason. Even then I still don’t like removing it.

 

FYI, first oil/filter change with the new adapter today. Poked a hole into the top of the oil filter before removing.

Not one drop was spilled. It was easier than I thought it'd be.

Have to? Not necessarily... For my Tacoma I bought a pump that pulls the oil right up the dipstick tube. I'm COVID lazy, but I don't mind changing oil on the Tacoma at all.

 

I FOUND A WORK-AROUND FOR THAT ISSUE!!!

E-Transfer LOL. I ordered another ham radio this afternoon. If I'd put it on the family credit card, I'd have to put up with grief (meaning castration) from the ball'n chain.
So I asked if I could pay thru an e-transfer which the store supported.
Can't wait to get it tomorrow. The ad states it'll add 2" in length and 1/2" in girth.

Anyone local who wants a free Fram XG10075 oil filter, it's yours. I'm in Carignan (Chambly) Quebec.
I'm running an external oil filter and have no need for this.

I had no idea how bad a rep Fram has. I was using it for fitment and for the first 3k miles, than replaced it with a Mann filter. World order has been restored...

 

I think the main issue with Fram is with their metal canned filters. During the manufacturing process sometimes metal shavings were left in the filter I believe from cutting the mounting threads. Plus they don’t filter all that well to begin with.
Their air filters didn’t test all that well either.
