Trade in Camry for 4Runner?

Hello everyone,

I'm new here, and looking for some opinions. I live in New England and am currently thinking of trading my 2012 4cyl Camry SE in on a 2012 4Runner Limited. The 4WD is almost negligible, being from upstate New York I'm almost used to the snowfall amounts up here, but I won't lie and say it wouldn't be nice. I'm just looking for something a bit bigger and nicer, something my wife and I can pack up along with our Jeep and drive up to the NH Lakes and get away for a weekend. She drives a 2014 Avalon Limited, which is currently buried under two feet of snow, and we share a Jeep that she uses as her main commuter.

So I guess the question is, do you guys think a trade is worth it? My Camry gets good gas mileage at around 27 mpg, so the drop in gas mileage would be a little bit of a shock til I got used to it. It's ok, not great, in snow, even running Blizzaks. Price of the 4Runner I'm looking at is 24k with about 90k miles.

If it'll suit your needs and meet your budget, I say for for it.
The Camry will depreciate quicker than the Runner will, so even in a few years it will help towards another new one!

Having had vehicles with trunks before, I'll never give up a hatch or pickup truck now if I can avoid it.

 

Coming from an '08 BMW 335xi, I had to learn how to drive the 4Runner in changing traffic conditions. I live in a suburban area and travel thru 3 cities during my 30-mile commute to work.

I'm enjoying my daily drive more now, after I switched to a great set of hwy tires.

I still wish I had my car for those days when I feel the need for a bit of spirited driving, and it's not yet motorcycle season.
