Ha, thanks! the brackets are meant for ditch lights which you would put in both sides. They are just much lower profile than the one cbi sells for an antenna. I have a whip and a firestik firefly 3’ so should be ok with either one of those. The weboost seems much beefier so it was prob smart of you to put the longer bolts, can’t imagine thats what lead to the failure, seems like you got a lot of miles out of it tho! I too prefer symmetry but I also hate unused brackets! Might have to get a gmrs radio just to have something to put on the other side…

I have heard it a few different ways. One way is… It is recommended to have your hood up that way if that line snaps it hit that and slow down the object vs hitting something or someone else (new hood would be cheap compared to a new hood, glass, and whatever else it hit). So while you have the hood open you have easy access. None of this applies to me anyways as my bumper has built in access.

I don’t necessarily support the hood being open. Because the flying object if stopped by the hood may go down into the engine and break something that could be REALLY expensive. So whatever you decide I am sure it will be right for you. :)

Rope that goes limp is the only way to go! Worth every penny for that safety factor alone.

Yep I use synthetic all day long. I have been curious what would happen if my factory 55 link broke or at least the object it was hooked to broke? That thing would be a rubber band with a bullet on the end of it. I have thought about getting rid of it for that reason.

I think the rope would go limp and put drag on the broken link. Disclaimer: I have not seen that happen, and I bombed college physics lol

Love it, among all the other rear window decals. And, especially like it on the MGM. Don't suppose you and your wife are looking at a business opportunity?

Funny you say that.... Haha. I make and sell some other vinyl products on Etsy (and here). I sell hood hood glare deflectors for the 4Runners and also protective strips that keep Prinsu etc from rubbing through your paint. I sell stuff here to forum members essentially at cost. The design on this one is good but the backing and installation I haven't worked out yet... It was a VERY tough install. I will add a thread when I have something I am confident people can install without incident!

Killed my battery doing dumb stuff with my pops on Friday so I now had an excuse to drop in a yellow top and pre-wired some more goodies that are coming in the mail. Also ordered some new trail headlight assembly cause I can’t quit that OG look.

I thought the whole reason for synthetic line was to avoid that very issue. My understanding was that synthetics stretch way less than steel cable, therefore storing less energy that could launch shackles, hooks and such into people or vehicles.

i’d appreciate the correction if I have the wrong impression

I love the word used for range/ miles to empty. I think from now on I’ll say I have 300 miles of autonomy when I gas up lol. It’s a perfect word for the concept.

I have 200w solar panels on the roof after finding that 100w was insufficient. I have also learned that my largest consumption of battery storage (lithium 200ah) is the 12v water heater at 15+amps, and why I run it while driving. However, most of my battery use is during the dark hours, when the solar panels are not useful while making dinner (Ninja Foodi/induction stove), staying warm while sleeping (electric heater), and making breakfast (again, Ninja Foodi/induction stove). The battery dropping to 12.9-12.8v by wakeup time the next morning. Thus, considering a larger battery bank (considering the operative word).

Hearing your electrical requirements makes me think the second 100w panel would be sufficient for me. My fridge/freezer combo is the only thing at this time that I run off of my power bank at night. I appreciate your replies, this has helped a ton!

i thought the synthetic line was for weight savings and no chance of corrosion. But I’m new to this. Do you guys throw a damper on the rope when winching or pulling? Should make things safer. Whether purchasing one or just throwing a heavy blanket or towel over the rope. It forces the projectile down and should absorb some impact in event of breakage.

Cleaned the inside of the 4Runner today, including the Ninja Foodi after air frying chicken, and baking cookies and cinnamon rolls while traveling on the AZBDR, on and off for almost a month.

The Batmobile is now equipped with a diy hidden winch! The fair lead is just stuck on for now - Gotta go get some bolts for that tomorrow and it’ll be 100%. I feel somehow “freer”. lol

I added some exterior accessories today: added some rain guards, bug shield, and front license plate.

    01.jpg 02.jpg 03.jpg

Got her road legal this past Friday with plates/registration. Getting a new vehicle (at least in Missi'ppi) can be a damned expensive endeavor.

But I've ordered an Expedition Essentials Dash Mount Powered Accessory Mount from R4T

    https://runnin4tacos.com/products/p...toyota-4runner-5th-gen?variant=32325314510897

And someone on here recommended a 7 pin Dongar adapter for a dash cam. I don't remember whom it was, but that particular one didn't fit correctly for my particular model. But this one was ordered in it's place:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08TW2R2S3?ie=UTF8

And I've also got some LED lights to replace the yellowish lights on the interior.

And finally, found some steps on FB for $75. They look to be in good (but used) condition. Meeting guy tomorrow to get them. Have to drive several hours out of the way to get them, but most everything else around me various from $200-400 in similar style/condition.

So right now these are the few things I'm adding. It's small things, but things I wanted to get done.

Not bad getting it in position but I am having trouble finding a backing paper that will let go once it is in position and the water is squeegeed out. The backing paper just keeps pulling it up so it isn't user friendly. I am going to make some other designs but I need to get that part figured out. I sell vinyl on Etsy for a profit and here for basically cost but I get a lot of frustrated customers due to vinyl not being the easiest thing to install/install error/install inexperience. (Not their fault, it just can be tricky for sure)

Yeah, cause now I want one too. The glare is insane on my morning commute.
