No low washer fluid light?

Hey all, kind of looking to make a poll here wether or not your 5th gen has a low washer fluid reminder. Two times now my tank went dry and no warning light. I never had a vehicle without one, just seeing if this is normal? Thanks!

 

You'll need to buy a Canadian 4 runner for that light

 

Seems so, I tried the google searching prior to this post and saw that on one, most of what I have seen was for previous generations though. I would have gave up all the safety crap for that one sensor. Weird!

 

In all my years of driving, and maybe 15-20 different vehicles, I've never had a vehicle with a low washer fluid indicator. Nor have I ever seen one.

all my previous vehicles all which had the warning. 2022 no go! LOL

Yep this 4 runner finally brought me out of the 2000 era!, loved all of those vehicles though. The grand Cherokee limited had the 4.7L V8 & Quadra drive, was pretty unstoppable stock. (Limited slip differentials front and back & full time 4 wheel drive)

 

I learned today that a low washer fluid warning is a thing haha

 

I truly didn’t think it was this uncommon

 

Yep, the 4Runner lacks quite a few features that were common on cars even 20 years ago, lol.

My 97 Grand Cherokee had a low washer fluid lamp, as well as auto headlights.

 

But at least we have lots of '80's chrome!

 

Didn’t know that Canuckistan version had a washer fluid light. Does it come with poutine warmers, too?

 

Nah a cooler for the beer …yes

 

Less stuff means fewer failure points.

No low fluid lights for me either. For reference: 22 4Runner TRD Off-road

 

They are in the Canadian model. And yep, even newer, dont matter. A 22 is basically the same as a 10.

 

As some posters have said as well, didn’t know this existed on any model or manufacture. Lol. My wife’s bmw and Mercedes’ didn’t have this either.

 

Same here. Didn’t know it existed. Never had a car with this feature before. My Lexus IS250 didn’t have it. Not sure if the newer ones do…

 

Does the back window washer fluid have a separate tank or are the front and back on the same? I filled it up over the weekend and the front seems to have fluid, but not the back.

The Canada version comes with some sort of heater core pre heater? To make it warm up faster?

Also they get automatic dual climate control on the off road premiums.

 

My 1993 Jeep XJ had one....that was permanently on.

 

Only the hoser edition doesn't have a poutine warmer.

 

Run it for 30-40 seconds. You have an empty line.

 

...unless you’re referring to the First Gen, which carried a bag in a rear compartment for rear washer fluid.

on topic, our 18 highlander or our 06 Sienna had/has a light I think. Pretty sure because I remember being surprised when I saw it. It’s a good idea, and I was expecting it on the 4runner.

It took almost a year for me to run my tank dry, so you can imagine my disappointment lol

 

I was looking on other forums about the washer fluid level sensors especially in Canadian cars. It seems with one design they are prone to failures due to the sensor plates inside the liquid corroding with deposits. The result is no electrical continuity and the warning light stays on always.

Another design uses a float to sense the level. People report failures of that if they don’t use a winter blend and the washer fluid freezes, which can screw up the mechanism even when it thaws.

Another failure is the exposed pins on the electrical connector on the outside of the washer reservoir get wet and corrode with the same effect. Maybe the newer models have better systems by now.

.... ran out the other day and no warning...
my gf has a new 2022 hyundai tucson and that thing holds a couple bottles of fluid and the light turns on when shes still got a gallon or so ... crazy...
