Just curious what you guys think of the new TRD Sport? Seems like most people build off of the TRD Off-Roads and Pros. Do any of you own a Sport?

Looks like a Limited but doesn’t have the drivetrain. Not sure who that’s supposed to appeal to. Especially the RWD model…

Some Drivetrain replacement parts are different though.
I suspect they may be ending Limited.... Just a hunch

    Sports looks somehow more trendy

It has the X-REAS Sport Enhancement Suspension, cheaper than sr5 premium, and that’s about it.

On a high level, I really love SR5 with 7 seat option over TRD Sport for better clearance from front bumper, better rocker panels that support sliders or even running boards, rear bumper on SR5 is also better than TRD Sport.

Yes I do love the XREAS suspension on my Limited just like you get in TRD Sport but its not worth giving up on what I have said above imo. Also per the 4x4 shop XREAS shocks are shorter than SR5/ TRD ORP shocks so not recommended for even a small 1.5in lift.

I love TRDs with rear lockers and other fancy stuff but that 4wd selector is trouble if my wife were to drive it in winter. She doesn't like it vs the 4wd knob is much easier to her.

When it comes to wheels I absolutely hate 20in wheels. 4Runners are not mini vans so 20in wheels should not be there for 4Runners IMO.

    Aren't all of the TRD Sports 2wd? I thought that's what I saw. 2Runners

Generally, the combination seems like a parts bin special.
They are available in 4WD and have the same setup as the SR5.

They're great for people who don't want to go offroad. The xraes suspension is better than the others for street driving, from what I hear. So not a bad deal for many 4Runner owners.

But when people buy them and then immediately modify for off-road use... I really don't get that. You're much better off starting with an SR5.

no in fact in Canada there is no such thing as a 2Runner. It's ridiculous that someone wants to buy an expensive body-on-frame SUV with a 13 year old platform but then want to save a few grand on the one component that is actually tied into freaking name of the vehicle.

I think it's kind of an odd model, but I've seen a few and they actually look good.

Personally, I think they're either just trying to get rid of parts inventory in preparation of the 6th gen coming out, or they just figured they'd throw in a new model to try to keep people interested.

I guess one thing to consider is that every year, they sell every single 4Runner they make. Regardless of the configuration. So while some configurations don’t seem to make sense, someone ends up buying them anyway.

It's a stupid abomination they made as a cash grab to sell to unsuspecting people who don't know better. Utterly stupid. They could have made more trds and sr5s

TRD Sport basically has the same bumpers as a Limited, comes in 2wd and 4wd and same exact drivetrain as any 5th gen 4runner. with an exception of a hood scoop. Limited is the ONLY model that has AWD. Basically if a Limited and SR5 had a baby it would be the TRD Sport.
