I have a completely off topic question purely related to my own OCD. About the flag sticker on the door: why are the stars in the upper right? Are they like that on the driver's door too? I noticed the badging on a new vehicle did this (maybe some jeep?). So it's the second time I've seen this.

4USC ss7(i) states...
"When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag’s own right, that is, to the observer’s left. When displayed in a window, the flag should be displayed in the same way, with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street."

 

They face the normal way on the driver's side; I was given a stern lecture almost a year ago about my thin blue line police flag magnet not facing the front of the truck on the passenger side by someone who saw a picture on TacomaWorld, and numerous other members concurred...

 

Haha I wasn't sure if I should even mention it but I'm glad to know I'm not alone, and accept your intentional rebellion.

i figured it's like that because it mounted to a pole, the wind would blow it backwards, and while driving the wind would be a strong headwind from tue front of he truck, so it looks more realistic to have it oriented that way. Or maybe it was made in china where they don't know any better? Anyway, you can see I have spent way too much mental energy wondering about that sticker lol

 

It looks like Tony Montana sneezed in my truck, but that white stuff is not what you think it is! It's just corn starch...

An old friend of mine who has owned several Rolls-Royces told me of this truck he uses to get odors out of carpet and upholstery; Store-bought corn starch can remove odors and leaves your interior smelling like fabric softener!

I figured if it works on a Rolls-Royce then why not Tacoma? It's been probably close to five years since I used this technique on the truck, but after spending several days in a body shop with no passenger window, the interior smelled like paint and other chemicals. The smell would dissipate as I drove, but it would come back if the truck was parked for any length of time. The trick is to dump corn starch on the carpet and seats, and leave it overnight; These are the pictures from last night...

New York area traffic while driving to Casa Soprano; The brownish gray CRV in front of me has Newfoundland and Labrador plates, the silver one ahead to the right has Nevada plates, and my truck is obviously registered in Pennsylvania. I have never seen so many out of state (and in the case of the one CRV, out of country) license plates in one area!

 

This is how close I got to NYC; The blue marker is the location of my truck, and the red marker is the location of the Soprano mansion...

The address of this place is no secret...

 

It's even automatically listed as "Sopranos House" in the Maps app on my iPhone...

 

While the actual house was used for exterior shots in the series (interior scenes were done on a closed studio set in NYC), the property was given the fictional address of 655 Stag Trail Road (albeit still in North Caldwell), and you can see that address on Tony's driver's license in a season three episode where he gets pulled over for speeding...

 

The culdesac on which the house is located seemed a lot bigger on TV than it did when I was actually parked in it...

I do not know why the picture of Tony's mom's house turned out so weird; I believe I might had it set to "square"...



Anyway, I didn't take a picture with the SLR because the living room is in the front of the house and there were people right there watching TV; I know they saw me take a picture, and they probably know the provenance of their house, but I felt like using the SLR would possibly bring unwanted attention. The strip club that served as the Bada Bing for the duration of the series (called Satin Dolls in real life) was like 20 minutes from the Soprano house, and I'm kinda regretting not going there...
