My dealer inflated my Dunlop At20's to 55 psi!

    Drove home my new beloved 2022 SR5 premium last night, and I had been thinking it rode a little rough on the way home. Did some joy riding today and, damn, it's riding kinda rough. Looked at my toyota app and it said 55 psi all around. Checked the inside door panel and it said 32 psi for those stock oe dunlop grandtrek AT20's.

    I thought wow, the toyota app is off. Checked online and the max for that tire is supposed to be 51 psi with max load.
    It's been bugging me so I just went to the garage, checked tp with a cheap tire gauge, and shazam, 55 psi.

    wtf?
    I'll call dealer in the morning, but if it's really overinflated like that and the numbers are all correct, I wonder if the tires might be damaged now after driving 50 miles at 55 psi?

    Mostly sharing but this is one of the weirdest experiences I've had with a dealer. Maybe their gauge was off?

    Same here I wouldn't worry about the tires but I certainly would worry about the Dealership.....

    Welcome from Wisconsin! Your tires are OK, just air them down to whatever the recommended PSI is in the door jamb, and if you plan on taking back to the dealership for any more service work, tell the service writer at that time you would like the air pressure in the tires set at.........?

    That’s probably the pressure set for the boat ride. PDI should have noticed that and lowered it appropriately.

    The tires were over inflated for shipping to reduce flat spotting on the long boat ride .
    Your dealership failed to adjust the tires before delivery. That would be a big red flag to me to stay away from them in the future.

    Same experience with mine when I took delivery. I found a PDS checklist on a search https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10172856-9999.pdf and I know that the road test didn't happen because it only had 2 miles on it when I got it. Most of the obvious was taken care of but the tire pressure wasn't one of them. With temperature and elevation variables you would think..... Who am I kidding?

    Same here. Picked my '22 ORP up in Tempe, AZ and drove 130 miles back to Tucson with 55lbs. of pressure. Initially concerned but not a problem. As stated above that pressure is for transport. Dealer blew it and I have no reason to go back.

    The max PSI on the sidewall of the tire should determine your max psi not the door jamb sticker. The PSI on my Toyo tires is 55 PSI, that runs them way too stiff for me. I run mine at 44 unless I'm pulling my kayak trailer then I air up a few lbs.

    Mine were the same, around 55 psi. I deflated them to proper pressure when I got it home (~40 miles) and they've been fine over the last 4,000 miles.

    If you run stock tires then it looks to be best to use the car info. As soon as you go to a non stock tire I don't believe the car info will be the most accurate.

    Don't get me started on delivery service. Car dealer supposed to check tire pressure along with oil and other fluid levels before giving you keys. Instead they run your new rig trough brushed car wash and have part time kid dry it with a towel and call it detailed with many swirl marks and even some scratches. My advise to new car buyer: tell the salesman not to touch the car, no wash, no interior detail, no taking it to gas station to top up the tank. Nothing! Just live it all as is and the way it came from Japan. Bring your tire pressure gauge with you, though.

    Agreed with the others.. Not enough miles to cause an issue. Could be that your dealership sucks, or it could just be that it got missed. Mistakes happen.

    Had you driven 5,000 miles on 55psi, then yes, you have a beef.
    Calling the dealer solves nothing. Be smarter than the tech who did the work and CHECK THEM YOURSELF EVERY TIME
    No matter what the internet dweebs say, trust what the manufacturer says. Just as each tire is different, so to are the abilities and needs. But, most A/T, R/T and M/T (some variable with C vs D vs E load) is 80psi.

    The door sill placard is intended to reflect what the OEM tires are equipped with. Period.
    Re-read your articles.

    That is not the same as "use the listed psi for all applications".

    Haha! We drove our '18 home, cut a stock tire on day two going to a friend's house on a dirt road and that was that, KO2's all around (and spare, we aren't savages :crapstorm:) took off the stocker tires with less than 500 miles haha

    55Psi here also. 600 miles. Glad I joined the forum and read this thread. Question. Tires are cold. It’s cold here. Should they be set to cold pressure (32). Or maybe a bit higher? Thanks.

    Thanks for informative and funny replies! The psi for shipping makes a lot of sense. The dealership is basically a bunch of good guys. It was late saturday so I think service just wanted to get home and effed up. I will take a short video showing the tire pressures, make them feel a little bad, and maybe use it as leverage for a few hours of free labor for installing something or other.
    Regarding, tires. Yes, I've researching that and soon as I get a better sense of rideability as a daily driver I'll decide how radical to go.

    Deflator lets you see PSI as you do it. Also much faster.

    Right on with the leave it alone, mine came swirled & scratched to shit! They tried to make it right by having the 17 year old buff and wax it and made it worse. They cut me a check for $435 for a professional to buff and wax it out vs sending my NEW vehicle for a whole paint job...95% or more of the scratches came out to our knowledge looked a hell of a lot better and I accepted that vs paint. Went for first oil change and they scratched the grill...once again tried to make it right & left wheel marks from buffer all over the grill, another check cut for my detailer for $55 to remove wheel marks. So fucked up. I think they initially removed snow and washed mine with a old push broom.
