So not an off-road/rock crawling review yet. Just received the sliders, did the install and want to offer you guys an opportunity to see them on the TRDP.

I bought these for $750 (delivered) on-sale currently. They appealed to me because they come fully configured with everything I want, and there is no additional costs (kick out, powder coated with a bed liner (like) texture, top plates, 0 degree). They mounted perfectly and I had was zero issues with the install. I used a leftover deck board, and my jack to install, went pretty quick (20 minutes each side).

They were packaged good, so much so that the box was delivered broken (FedEx), but the sliders were wrapped up very carefully so a broken box didn’t have any negative affects.

I like the way they turned out, I’m sure they will serve me well.

No drilling - everything mounted up perfectly!
There is a small piece of plastic (2” X 4” - in front of the rear tires) that is mounted to the underside of the body which is used to likely to deter rocks kicked up from the front tires to impact the rear - that needs to be removed to clear the space for the rear of the slider to mount up.

    Thanks man.
They are a bargain, relative to the competition.

wow. even their price before the sale is pretty good IMO, considering it already has a top plate, kickout and DOM. usually the bed lining alone can be a few hundred dollars.

I just tried installing these. Passenger side went on quick with the help of a floor jack, but the drivers side is proving to be a PAIN--mainly due to a KDSS line and line bracket...and a misaligned slider bracket
    • KDSS line bracket - One of the slider bolts will utilize a bolt hole occupied by one of the KDSS line brackets, so be prepared to remove the existing bolt and tuck the slider plate behind the KDSS line bracket. AND, if you're unlucky like me, be prepared to adjust said line bracket hole (read, dremel out) so that it lines up with the slider plate hole. Why?--because, the bracket sits right on top of the slider square tube, misaligning it from the existing hole. I'll try to update this post with some photos, once I go back to adjust KDSS line bracket.
    • KDSS line - another slider bolt will line up just where two KDSS lines, that run along the frame, angle slightly downwards. One of the lines angles down early and crosses right in front of the hole, but the line isn't fixed directly against the frame, so it will clear the bolt head once it's tightened down. We had to use the jack to slightly bend the lines up while tightening the bolt down.
    • Slider Bracket - there is a single small bracket that connects to the frame with just one bolt. That bolt hole is misaligned from the frame hole by about 1/2 inch. We used a ratchet strap to carefully bend that bracket towards another slider bracket to align the holes.
Regarding the textured powder coating--it chips off fairly easy. I ran my fingers across the underside of the slider (between the tube and the bottom of the top plate) while picking it up, and found a "paint bubble" that immediately cracked, crumbled, and chipped off. Fortunately, it seems there's another layer of black coating underneath. Not a huge deal since I figure it'll need to be touched-up several times in it's life with regular use.

Oh, also, it seems that logo cutout wasn't completely thought through. It could use a couple small reinforcement tabs. We accidently bent it down during installation, then bent it right back with very little effort.

Ahh too bad you’re dealing with that on the KDSS side. Glad you figured it out. I noticed that it’s coated twice as well, one base coat and then the textured coat on top. Personally I’m not very concerned about that as over time they will get so beat up on the rocks and logs that I will have to repaint them.
Hope your happy with your purchase, and I gave you a good recommendation.

Just installed mine. Easy as it could be... however, I will note two things....

    - As The Last One said above, there is a small square of plastic in front of each rear wheel that must be removed to get the sliders in close enough to the frame. Two 10mm screws. You won't miss it, as the end piece of the sliders take up that space and will block any rocks or dirt thrown up if reversing in dirt.

    - I also wasted about 15 minutes frantically searching for a missing bolt/washer/lock washer. I did the passenger side first - it takes 8 bolts. When I went to collect parts for the driver's side there were only 7 bolts. I thought I had lost one. But I took a look at the flanges and realized that there are only 7 on the driver's side. Ha.

Also, I agree that the logo could have been better designed. Without any support tangs, I can see how a mis-placed step on it could bend the "A" into it's surrounding hole. Minor issue that won't impact the usefulness at all, just a point to make.

I used the floor jack and small jack-stand method. Took me about 35 mins on the first side, and 20 or so on the second side. No drilling, nothing in the way, all holes are pre-tapped holes in the frame. Worked perfectly.

Thanks for the suggestion. for $750 and an hour of my time, these are fantastic values.

Probably a dumb question... but these mount to the frame, not the body, right?

I can tell by looking at them they’re better than some of the expensive ones. The length is right, so the kickout will not guide a stump or rock into the quarter panel in front of the rear wheel. There are some pricey ones that are poorly designed and if ever actually used, won’t be worth a shit because of the shape of the kickout and distance between the end of it and the tire is too much…you slide along the obstacle then crunch stopped right there, stuck between the slider and the tire, wedged into the quarter panel. Now people are go out to look at the gap behind their kickouts. Lmao

So the OP had to return this 4Runner, but was able to purchase a new one some time later, but I believe has since been banned.
