Judging from the fact it did not adjust to DST, it’s just a regular old fashioned quartz clock. It gives it’s own time, faithfully providing you an independent measure of time, as long as it has a constant power supply. Just like a wristwatch.

I wonder how many minutes yours will be off by?

I will look and let you guys know. I am not sure if it was off when I purchased it last year.

I have hardly even touched the screen not wanting to scratch it and keep my fingernails short. I can’t put a phone screen protector right to save my life so I am sure I’d mess up the screen on 4R.

I need to get her moved out of storage spot in garage and remove cover this weekend so I will at clocks. I take it for Xpel next week on hood and front end. I had on battery tender all winter and started once per month and ran for 30 min. Time to burn some of that stabilized fuel.

What model 4runner do you have. Can I get first dibs when you decide to sell it please?:D

Also, if I may be so bold as the next owner in line, I wouldnt bother starting it during it’s storage period. Doubt the oil gets hot enough to boil out any water that condenses inside the pan when it warms over. Do that too much, and you’ll get mayonnaise. Half hour is however, probably enough time to boil out the acidic water inside the exhaust system.

Returning to topic…my clock and time are still synched since the last time I adjusted it at DST.

    Hi McSpazatron,

It is an ORP no KDSS silver. You can have first Dibs for sure. I doubt my nephew will want it as they Stellantis folks and I am the only driving a non big three vehicle. I estimate the average mileage to be less than 2,500 per year.

At the moment though I am hoping to keep a long time and just use to go fishing. I have a few cars and now work from home so mileage is way down. Even pre pandemic my total mileage was maybe 7 per year

    Press the "set up" button
    Press "display"
    Press "blank"

The display is now blank, and only the dashboard light is showing.

Yeah, I know that is not a proper answer.
In our home we have many clocks. Some wind up, some battery, and some consult and update with satellites or the Atomic Clock in Colorado.
Within a week they are all different, excepting the ones that use the same update/check signal. It used to bug the snot out of me, until I realized that as long as they were all with 5 minutes, then I would not be late.

Yeah, I used to get all bothered about that too. Always wanting precision… then I realized that our timepieces nowadays are more “accurate” than the objects we use to define time for human purposes, namely the stars and planets.

If I ever need to need to nail down the speed at which the valance shells of atoms bond into molecules, or I need to hand calculate global position in three dimensions and speed from a 50,000miles high orbit, then I suppose I can complain about my quartz :p

Toyota should add a third one to the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel for good measure lol I don't want that screen to feel left out

I set the bottom one 30 minutes fast and it's used anytime My wife is involved. We're usually only 10 to 20 minutes late when I do it that way

Just put a piece of black electrical tape over the clock that you don't want to see!

Agreed, except for the LED headlights starting in 2021. I've said it before -- 2020 might be the worst year, cause you get saddled with the stupid active safety tech and internet connection, but don't get the benefit of good headlights. I do really like my infotainment screen and ability to use Apple CarPlay -- those are signif pluses for me of the 2020. But the piss poor headlights are ridiculous on a 2020 vehicle that costs almost 50K.

    Honestly I'm not sure if I'd rather have a 21 or a 19. But I'm damn sure that 2020 is worse than 2021. :D

This has been an annoyance for me. My 2015 Tacoma has the clock on the Nav display, and is always correct because it is either updated by GPS (maybe?) or more likely by the bluetooth connection from my phone.
However - my 2019 4Runner doesn't show a clock on the display, but has the one that is always off above it in the dash.

You can keep the safety sense. That stuff is crap. False sense of security. I drive the old fashioned way - by paying attention. And making other drivers notice me! :D
My insurance rates are not that bad despite where I live.

Well I pulled mine out of it’s winter storage spot since October. My clock is off by one minute as well.

It was a nice day here and I moved it to other side of garage to get out easily when I take in for Xpel PPF later this week.

The tray in front of the upper clock is a great place to store sunglasses and the sunglasses block the clock from view when you're not wearing them. ;)

What is the problem with two different times? Get into work based off of the latest time and leave work based off of the earliest. It is a win-win.

I sell a kit that blacks out the dash clock. It's $59.95, no tax, and just $12 shipping. The fix takes about 5 minutes and never fails.

    Here's how it works.

Remove approximately 5 cm of material from the roll of electrical ta... er... ah... clock masking material.
Carefully apply the masking material over the clock display.
Gently press the masking material into place.
Throw the rest of the roll of electrical ta... darn! ... masking material into your toolbox in case you need to wrap a bare wire... err... get a new 4Runner and have to repeat the process...

Call your order in today as we expect a run on our stock once the word gets out...
We're Engineered Blackout Systems @ 867 5309, ask for Jenny...

Is the displays for that area with the temp, etc a true swap? Then you could have other things to look at than just the time that's off.
