Has anyone figured out how to fix the two clock issue on the dash? No matter how many times I've reset them together, they keep changing. They're always one minute apart within a week lol

That sounds pretty annoying. I barely ever look at the dash clock. What year is yours?

Not sure if this is a serious question….

But in case it is, it’s not something that needs fixing. The clock on the dash is a real clock…it’s a quartz. They are very accurate, they might lose or gain a few seconds every month.

The time on the nav screen is not a clock. It’s time displayed on a screen, from info that is probably coming from GPS satellites. Those satellites have clocks onboard that are among the most precise instruments ever created. They might lose or gain a second every million years.

I think it’s nice to have GPS time, but I prefer to reference my clock, it feels more “organic” lol.

sorry, Im a clock/watch geek haha. If I had my choice, I’d pick a mechanical clock for the dash.

Funny, my insurance agent justified an insane quote for a 2020 Corolla by saying it gets expensive to insure vehicles with so much safety tech.

Back in the day, cars were required to have bumpers that would protect cars from expensive damage if hit under 5mph.

Now, a 5mph hit can result in a huge insurance claim. Just yesterday somebody posted about backing up into something in their driveway…smashed a blind spot sensor. Regular price for one sensor is almost 1k (per sensor). Then calibration costs a bunch more. Paint and a new bumper cover is the cheap part.

Kinda sucks the last of the 5th gens have the blind spot sensors…. Not only are they very vulnerable off road, but switching to a steel bumper will be a problem.

I think the issue is that there are two devices to display the time right next to each other and they are impossible to keep in sync. Regardless of the difference in functionality, it is an odd design decision in my opinion and I could see how it would bother somebody if they any OCD tendencies!

I’d hate to smash my nav unit just because it displays time lol ;)

OK, here is how you fix it. But nobody complaining about them de-synching should complain about the time it takes. Because that complaint reveals that they are in fact a clock geek like me.

Synching them takes about a min. Most clocks err on the side of being fast (philosophy being, better to be early than late). Given this, it’s a good bet that you’ll keep the time synched the longest if you set the quartz to the minute immediately after the GPS time flips to the next min. My guess is that they will both display the same time, except for a few seconds every minute, for a long time.

If your OCD condition (I am a fellow sufferer) still cant take it, then I guess it’s the hammer:p

Or a dash mount that covers up your quartz clock.

Is there actually a notable difference?

Sounds nice. But, I tend to deflate and inflate my tires every few weeks anyway and check them periodically.

But I already have outside temp on the instrument cluster, and compass too!!! Are you trying to drive us all crazy!?!?

I vote for a barometric pressure/altitude, and tilt angle readout. Hmm, aftermarket potential?

I went from a 2012 Honda CRV to a 2020 ORP. Same coverage, same insurance company. My payment actually dropped a little bit. They said it was lower because of the safety features. But I despise and don't trust insurance companies, so who knows...

A few years ago, I started shopping annually for insurance, I have saved a ton of money. One of my quotes was from the company I was insured with, but got a cheaper quote.

I got the accessory meter harness from Old Red so I can add this display to my 2019. I'll have some doubled readouts but that's fine.

That makes sense. I just wasn't sure how significant it would be.

I also don't care for insurance companies too much. :D

Shopping around helps! I go through an agency, so they shop for me. But, I still call occasionally to see if I can get it lowered.

My agent gets me new quotes annually and I usually end up jumping ship every 1 to 2 years. They will sneak in some serious price hikes if you're not paying attention

You could get the LabOps dash mount. Add functionality and delete the superfluous clock at the same time.

not enough clocks actually, needs an analogue clock too in case you get hit with an EMP or are driving through an electromagnetic storm.

Not just an analog clock. A hand wound mechanical clock. Of course after the EMP that clock would be the only part of your vehicle that is running.

This is one of my pet peeves. They're called bumpers but if you actually bump anything the repair costs can be absurd. Even without sensors they are ridiculously bad at doing their job.

It’s ironic because I noticed they were off around Christmas time when I started mine up in storage. But I am assuming the quartz clock does not update by satellite. I have not driven mine since October so I never turned the clock back. It should be close now that we sprung forward. I will check this weekend when I get it out.
