Hypothetically if you started driving east passing through Europe, Middle East, the Indian subcontinent Asian countries all the way to Australia, you would have mechanics keep your 4R running all the time for you, I don't think you can say that about many vehicles. 4Runner is an international vehicle

Jeep dealerships told me that they had a Rubicons in the showroom, and I could have a look at them. And if I wanted a V6, they could get it to me in less than 3 months.
Meanwhile, Toyota dealership is telling me that they no longer are taking deposits on 4Runners because the factory has been overwhelmed. 4Runners are getting sold before even they are born. I think Toyota is doing something right if 4Runners keep getting sold like this :D Such easy money for Toyota

Could just be that Toyota is making less 4Runners because their supply chain issues are worse, being that their manufacturing facility is in Japan. I recently read that Toyota has cut their production again by 17%. Not sure what percentage of that is 4Runner production.

The old AMC straight 6 was legendary. Perhaps the most dependable US engine ever. It's the embodiment of "they don't make them like they used to".

To be fair, my Jeep spent a decade crapping all over my bank account.

I used to drive a Wrangler TJ. I lost it in a wreck. I still miss it. If I'm in the market and I find a straight six from the late 90s, I might have to bite the bullet. It helps that you can flat tow it with the 4Runner, too.

    All of them.
Dan grec is a goat and doesn’t go overboard with his builds it’s actually really nice to say. As for me I love my jeep. Yes it’s smaller inside but for me and my wife agrees hands down power to the ground the jeep has it. I guess I’m fortunate to own both brand new with less than 5 miles at time of purchase. But if I was in the mindset I’ll live forever I would have harder a harder time selling my 4R but knowing I may not wake up tomorrow morning it keeps me in the perspective that I only get this rodeo of this version once. The next version of my life may be that homeless guy in Chicago you mentioned or end up getting eaten by some cowboy on a ranch one if I come back as a cow. Whatever decision you make it has to be right for you. If you want a jeep get it. If you want a 4R get it. Whatever you decide on don’t regret it the second you drive off the lot.

Also it helps knowing if I hated the jeep I could have turned around and sold it for what or more than I paid for it and got another 4R easily(maybe not another brand new one or even a 20 with the stupid tss)

I will join that forum and ask them what things can go wrong on a Rubicon and what measures can be taken to avoid things going wrong.
    Thanks again!

Yeah, the Jeep people tend to be a cool group. They won't steer you wrong. There's a specific JL board is well, I posted in the JK board I believe.

No. No you won't. The JL/JLU platform is fine now. No lingering new gen issues. The turbo diesel platform is the only one I would consider now. It is a proven motor from years of service in Europe. The 3.6 is a POS that they keep cramming down everyone's throat. Plastic crap doesn't hold up to the heat generated by that motor. I had 3 JKU's and just sold my last one. Never again. No matter how customizable they are (largest aftermarket parts availability of any vehicle ever produced) still doesn't change the fact FCA/Stelantis markets their vehicles for lots of offroad use, but they turn down warranty stuff all the time. I loved my JKU. but my 2017 in 55k miles I replaced:

3 head units (all 3 warranty)
Oil cooler/filler broke (twice. Neither under warranty)
Spider gears in rear dif (partial warranty)
3 separate injectors. One was clogged two had diode failure (no warranty) The bitch here is you have to remove the entire upper intake. 3 hours labor each injector.
Wiper motor (No warranty) I live in West Texas. That motor had maybe 2-3 working hours on it
OEM battery lasted 10 months (4 day holiday weekend, no warranty)
Both rear axle seals 10k miles apart (One warrantied, one did not)
Sway bar disconnect wiring failure (Sold it with the issue still existing)

My daughter graduates HS in a few months. My biggest dog won't be around much longer. I had looked forward to getting into a Gladiator. Not a fucks chance in hell now. My new to me 4Runner will get me through for a few years and then I will sort out what to do, but it won't be Jeep.

In all honesty, a 2dr jeep will never be as capable as a 4runner. Wranglers just aren't comfortable. I owned a tj then a jk, after my jeep phase I bought a tacoma then a 4runner. Just the build quality and piece of mind of the 4runner is something you'll never get with a jeep.

Before Id get a wrangler id get a 2dr bronco.

I mean shit if your considering a wrangler for $40k+, find yourself a low mileage, mint condition fj, thats what you should do

Here look i found you one.... Buy it

That is a very surprising statement to me based on 4dr Wrangler capabilities what I've seen.

    That was my first thought.

He reminded me of this high school age intern we had at work a few years back...always talking about women, and you knew he was about to say something inappropriate when he'd swivel his head to scan the room before speaking.

Weird kid to say the least. As for the 2door vs 4door JK or JL platform, you can't really compare the two.

2 door JK or JL less storage, less ability to RTT effectively, uncomfortable at best to sleep inside of. Upside is shorter wheelbase making climbing easier, lighter weight. Same shitty 3.6L motor.

4 door JKU or JLU, more interior storage, can be slept in quite comfortably, tons of roof rack space for even the largest RTT, easier to lift higher than the JK/JL. Longer wheelbase, heavy, same shitty 3.6L motor.

Gladiator (JT) same shitty 3.6 with greater flexibility

Upside to all of these compared to ANY offroad vehicle? BY far and away the largest aftermarket parts available at far more competitive prices. I look at the rear bumper prices for T4R's and wonder how they justify them.

and posts about religion, cannabis use (while quasi-legal still offends certain folk), that weird rant about tesla with heavy political overtones.
