    Any differences?

these sales people I’ve spoken with have no real clue.

some help from the experts on this forum would be great!

Side Note: how’s the maintenance on the Fabric interior?

    I have a 2021 Trail.

Not totally up on all the model diffs, but it appears to be an SR5 plus:
    • Yakima roof rack
    • Slide rear tray (thought it would be useless, but after camping a bunch I really like it)
    • Cooler (big deal. nice enough to use though)
    • blacked-out lettering/trim (looks nice, don't care that much though
    Does not have:
    • rear locker (we go offroading and have not gotten stuck yet)
    • MTS gizmos (I use my foot, eyes, brain, judgement)
    • butt heat (regret. will prob install myself)
    • leather seats (don't want them anyway)
    • decent audio system (ugggggghhhh. sounds like boomy mush stew through a pile of wet rags)
    • moon roof (good. I have never use them despite most of our cars having them. only problems)
I actually prefer the cloth seats. It gets hot as hell here in San Jose, CA. Cloth doesn't burn our legs all summer. I have two young boys and we go the beach and desert constantly . . . seats have been filthy but the clean up very easily. I'm happy with them.

I think the newer (2022) Trail is more like an OR or ORP.

There is no “special” trail edition as far as I know, only trail edition. Sales people usually don’t know anymore than you do.

its on the Toyota website and I just got the V Spec sheet on a car incoming. It says Trail Special Edition.

maybe it’s just the color and the roof rack as Jason suggested. Haha

Just checked the website, and it’s the only trail model that’s showing. They must have added the “special” to entice more sales.

Being the owner of an actual 2016 Trail premium before all that TRD off road nomenclature I can say the newer trails are really nothing like what the original Trails were.

    I don’t understand Toyota’s naming conventions anymore.

But it looks like the trail has now been renamed the trail special edition.

That has nothing to do with the trail edition which has been previously been an off-road centric model which was later renamed the TRD off-road.

Do you still get the Toyota cooler when you buy one of these, or is it back ordered because of ongoing supply chain issues, or some other random bullshit?
