not last chance, and if we continue to allow the dealerships to charge 10k over MSRP, we are the morons.

Lots of morons out there. Bring a trailer auction site just saw a 1974 celica sell for 65k, 2007 honda element sell for 40k, FJ cruisers selling for 80k. Maybe Lou's losing at the track and someone will pay 50 cents for a coke. :)I wouldn't pay over for anything but a Pro personally. caddy016.jpg

This is sort of like reading posts on the housing market forums from 5 years ago where prices were way overpriced and people were waiting for the crash. How's that worked out? Just saying when you see Kia's and Hyundai with 10k+ markups it's all perspective.

Just got an email this weekend, got my name on a Lunar Rock ORP at MSRP, no BS fees.
Central Maine Toyota, from their web site.

Had I know this before, I would have traveled the hour and a half to buy my other vehicles, but having a dealership 10 minutes from your house is hard not to support.

Just picked up my 2022 Army Green Off-Road Premium yesterday! I got it with KDSS, Premium Plus Package, and Moonroof.

I 'ordered' it through Bennett Toyota of Lebanon in Pennsylvania and it was probably the best dealership experience I've ever had. My salesman was able to get the exact build I wanted with no extra accessories and no add-ons. He was up front and honest when I first emailed him about selling at MSRP, his inventory, selling out-of-state and any other questions I asked throughout the process. He did say that more difficult to get models(i.e. TRD Pro) may have a small markup like $1000-$2000 when I went to pick up mine though.

The finance manager I had was also very easy to deal with. They never pushed extras like extended warranty on me, only asked if I would like to add them. When I said 'no' they said I didn't really need it since it's a 4Runner and I appreciated that truthfulness. Overall an honest, trustworthy, no BS dealership that I was pleasantly surprised with and was a pleasure to buy from. I would definitely go through them again for my next Toyota, even if it meant I would have to drive the 200 miles one way again to get there.

Total wait was just over 7 seven months total. Started end of August 2021 at Curry Toyota in Cortlandt, NY. They said they sell at MSRP so I put down a $500 deposit. They never received an allocation for my build so I have to get my deposit back from them. I think the issue was that I wanted KDSS and, from my research over the months and checking the Toyota inventory site with different zip codes, it looked like the NY, CT, and NJ sales region weren't getting any with it. By December I was tired of waiting so I put in another deposit($1000) at Bennett Toyota the beginning of December and it got delivered 3/2/2022.

My salesman was Collin Wathen, a pleasure to work with and a down to earth guy. If you contact him, just let him know that Vinny sent you. If he asks for a last name, just send me a PM.

I hope this helps someone trying to get their new 4Runner!

Now excuse me while I try not to look at my bank account...

Lets talk about Sierra Vista Toyota, more specially the salesman by the name of Ryn.

The dude sent me a spec sheet on a Lunar Rock 4Runner with all the options I wanted, I couldn’t believe it, that they had one. I asked 3 separate times if it’s in their allocation, he said yes every that, and that it’s their car it’ll be on their lot in 8 weeks. I put down my deposit, and went on with my life.

Sold the wife’s car because it’ll only be 4 more weeks before we have this 4Runner, bought a set of tires and wheels for it that are now sitting in my garage.

I start emailing him this week to figure out where we’re at with this car, he stops getting back to me. I gave him 3 chances and a full week. So I email the manager of the dealer, with that’s going on and that I want a different sales person assigned to me. This different salesperson in coordination with the GM, says the 4Runner Ryn sold me, does not exist. They’re not sure where he even found the spec sheet, but they don’t have one with those spec allocated to them.

So now my name is back in the bucket, and maybe their next allocation they’ll have something with the specs I want.

To say I’m pretty pissed off would be putting it gently.

Here is a dealer in PA currently advertising on their website that you wont pay more than MSRP. No hidden fees or market adjustments. They are even taking orders for a Tundra!

As far as I know this still have a lunar rock ORP - very base I think 46k. Debated driving the 600 miles but decided the little extra Hayward is adding in will mostly be eaten up in hotel and fuel costs

It's a rotten time to have to buy through the dealers, I wish Toyota could go direct to consumer.

Parker Toyota in CdA, ID. Put a $1K deposit in Oct and got my ORP in late Feb. The sales person kept me updated every few weeks. Paid MSRP and no extra junk added other than what I wanted. I wasn't too picky on the color. Just didn't want black or the dark blue. Ended up with silver which looks OK and even works with the silver valance. I hate the last step going through the finance guy but I just said I don't need the extended warranty since I'll be trading it back in before 3 years and that was that. :)

I talked to the folks at Parker - seem like a great group and I would have gone further but at the time they weren't selling to anyone outside of a 100mi radius from their location.

Wilsonville in Oregon no longer sells below MSRP but marks up each vehicle per John, a salesman that I spoke with there. Is there any way of knowing how a vehicle that is unspoken for is equipped and where it is going?

Capital Toyota in Chattanooga...MSRP on my wife's TRD PRO (Lime)...called them on Feb 1 - took delivery on Feb 28. Great folks, called weekly with est delivery date (originally first week of March I believe), called when it came in - in and out within an hour or so (took the time to walk my wife through everything on the vehicle, hooked up her phone, etc).

Avoid Larry H Miller in Corona (California).

They have a dealer mark up that they cover up in "dealer accessories" - $1,400.00 - not that big of a deal - continue reading.

Been calling them every day this week on a car that I've had my eyes on. I made an appointment with my rep to sign paperwork as the truck was pulling up into the dealership to come in and sign paperwork and drive the car home. They called me back after the car was unloaded that they were adding $6,000 worth of accessories and that my agreed upon price was no longer valid. Great business practice if you ask me.

I just purchased a 2021 Tundra SR5/TRD from Maplewood Toyota in Minnesota. I had to wait from late October till I took delivery on March 8th 2022 because of a NHTSA imposed “stop sale” resulting from a safety related recall which involved the power steering. When it was all said & done I paid MSRP as advertised. I ordered the cast aluminum running boards which were installed and I was given a $300. Discount from current list price, because the price jumped from when I ordered them to the time I finally got my truck. The won’t budge off of MSRP, but they also don’t go above it. They also send you off with a full tank of gas. I don’t know if that is a Toyota thing or a Maplewood Toyota thing, but with a 38 gallon tank I don’t care.

Please put Maplewood Toyota in Minnesota on the good list

The widow sticker usually says full tank of gas, but some dealerships struggle with reading so not all do it.

Bell Road Toyota in Phoenix, AZ doesn't charge a market adjustment... they do however charge $3500 for a deSeRt pRoTeCtiON package, which is paint protection, vin etching on glass, tint and some door guards..... pass.

Lmao I remember that from the 80s. Still won’t move on to the new world. I only buy from Avondale and Toyota of surprise . No adds and treated well. By the way I see markups on everything at bell of 3k on prius and 10k on pros. Plus the desert protection package

Just wondering are the people buying at msrp from dealer if they were to resell today sell at less than msrp? Just wondering if this goes both ways. Otherwise seems like gouging on the sellers part.

Before COVID you could buy for invoice pricing, or there abouts. So, my thinking is, the mark up from invoice to MSRP is just that, market adjustment, just as my used vehicle is worth more. Housing market, same deal, if you sell now, your getting top dollar as if your buying it’s at top dollar. And yes people are overpaying here as well.

What folks are not thinking about is when the market rights it’s self, folks are losing money, or even worse when it goes upside down.
