Gas mileage, What are you getting?

Did any of you experience better performance after ~4K miles? I feel the truck is more responsive now...or maybe, like @blade4runner said, the car has learned my driving habits and temp is cooler here now.

 

Measuring your gas mileage brand new then checking it after the break-in period will show better mileage every time. That is why it is so important to properly follow break procedure not only for reducing friction by making sure your bearings rings and seals seat properly, but your tires will see a benefit as well with a decrease in rolling friction

 

OK, winter is here. My mpg is going to drop big time. I'm having too much fun in the snow steering using my gas pedal, in 2WD and no traction control.

 

I have been so impressed with this in 4wd with all the nannies enabled I could not believe how stable it was when I was trying to play around. Even in 2wd with the nannies on it feels really planted. And of course with all of them turned off it was rally time in the country side , my mileage is in the shitter now for this tank too

 

Yeah, I'm with you...I don't right away switch to 4hi when driving in snow. I just try to find the straightest path thru the corner and 2wd + traction control works fine.

I gotta hit an off-road trail at some point so I can use all the cool stuff on the trail.

 

the 4runner is night and day different in the snow that the Tacoma was, this is just planted and doesn't constantly try to spin or slide in 2wd. I have used 4wd in the snow little bit and tried the multi terrain switch too, I didn't notice a huge difference with it but I think we just need more snow. I have noticed it is having a bit of trouble warming up all they way on the drive to work, it's been really cold here (this morning around 10*) and it doesn't put out much heat until I'm almost at work and that is about 15-20 minutes.

 

+1 on the 4R taking a while to warm up in the morning. It's 5°F here right now, before factoring in windchill.

 

This was my mileage on this tankful, was Highway mixed in with suburb driving 381 miles divided by 16 gallons it was actually more like 15.8 but I squeeze some more in to round out = 23.8MPG my dash mpg meter estimated it to 22.9 so it's off by 1MPG,

 

The only thing that I have tried that I can prove shows a measurable Improvement is running ethanol free gasoline best case scenario I have reported was a 10% increase usually it's around 5% - 7%

 

2008 Urban Runner 130K average is 17. I'm happy with that

 

That is right around 90% of what the runner owners are reporting and when I got mine I was also in that range but then I started changing my driving habits, just being more aware of how I was driving increased my gas mileage dramatically one of the most helpful things I ever did was to drive like I had a full bucket of water in the back, it sounds silly but it worked

 

^I have to go back to driving like you are.

I'm on the dark side right now...I'm more conscious at the moment with making sure I don't fall behind other cars on acceleration when coming from a full stop. It uses more gas but I'm having fun at the moment so it's a toss up.

 

Don't get me wrong I like to blow out the carbon as much as the next guy, there is nothing more gratifying as pushing the accelerator all the way to the mat and letting the raw power takeover growling through the gears one by one... impressive actually but I still mind mpg for everyday stuff.

 

I've driven the 4R aggressively but haven't actually floored it. Good to know it responds impressively

Though I didn't floor it, yesterday was a wet, snowy day here in MN and I really enjoyed leaving everyone behind even with being on 2wd.

I'm at 17.3 mpg now, haha.

 

You must have been going straight down a mountain with a tail wind.

 

haha, no it was the famous 40 mile flat stretch of the glacial Trail of Route 11. But it helps if I drive like a little old lady with cataracts and and a dog on her lap.

 

Have 2010 SR5 and average 19-22 101,000

 

2016 Trail approx 10k miles and getting 18.7 pretty consistently. UPDATED: 20k miles and at 18.7. Stock tires no lift.

 

I filled my tank yesterday and the trip meter said range 412 miles that trip meter uses your average from the last tank never seen it that high before probably will never see it again haha

 

2016 trail. 187 ,iles. 15.4 around town.

 

2017 TRD Pro averaging 18.0 mpg.. I was hoping to get close to the constant 21 I was getting on my FJ.

 

I have 2010 SR5 with 83k and a 2" lift. I usually average around 17mpg. Best I've seen was 18.5 down the highway. Stock size tires for now.

 

16.5 mpg most of the time, medium pace, mostly highway. 2011 Limited with 62k miles, Portland OR. I'm guessing it's partially due to the 10%+ ethanol blend, which reduces mileage.

 

I would say I'm getting anywhere from 18-20mpg, maximum I ever got was 22 and it was pouring down rain and doing anywhere from 60-70mph.

 

The truck is at ~9K miles, and I'm seeing between 19.5-20mpg for my daily drive this week, after resetting the fuel economy display last Monday:

60 miles/day
varying speeds of 45-75mph
17-20 stoplights each way
40-60ºF
87 octane

 

Ditto.....17.something

 

I just got 14 on the last tank, not really sure what happened there...
