As your age goes up your tolerance for stupidity goes down significantly! Some people call it grumpiness I call it life being to short to put up with that BS!

The get off my lawn quote becomes very relatable!

    All of them.
So glad those days are gone. The female closest to the camera is still puppyish even at 6 I just found a guy on eBay selling 100.00 used tennis balls for 30.00 shipped so I grabbed one took them home washed and dried them then put the back in the box and dumped the whole box in the living room. She absolutely lost her shit. Titan the male has zero fucks left to give. But my old man is 8 this year so he’s got lots of stories and he’s been around the block. Every now and then he gets spunky and wants to play which lasts about 5 minutes before he walks away and lays down.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.

I bailed out from a BMW site because there were a lot of jerks on it...I am restoring a 95 325i vert.. If you have an automatic transmission you would get trashed...Did not need that kind of childish behavior...

I’m so sorry for your buddy’s diagnosis. It’s so hard to lose a friend like that after so many years. After 10 years I still feel sad over the loss of my 14 year old lab/golden mix, but smile at remembering all the great times we had together.

Cherish your friend now and keep him comfortable. Dogs are pure love.

This forum is great because its members are much more likely to be helpful and entertaining than to launch personal attacks.

This forum is great because it's an example of how people can cooperate and enjoy one another despite big differences in values and perspectives.

Disagreements should be ok so long as they are not personalized and overtly political -- which fortunately occurs only occasionally.

What should not be ok is disinformation. Disinformation is toxic. It undermines freedom. Sometimes it is literally manufactured by nations that want to see us fail. And then it is spread by us, its very victims. Disinformation must be countered or we are doomed.

    So sayeth the puppy.

I'd rather see what stupid shit people say and then ignore it. Or, sometimes I respond. :anonymous:

I've also seen good posts from people who have posted stupid shit. Hell, I've posted stupid shit and had to dig out of my hole a few times.

Yeah. I am a pretty laid back dude and try not to give any of my energy to petty shit or those who peddle it. Took about 3 visits there to figure out that it is was mostly petty shit and people being petty about petty shit. Rofl As far as doing a study of cliques and peer group trend fluctuations in an online forum, that site would be an excellent case. The interactions between the alphas and betas there is quite entertaining if you can remain disengaged. That is the hard part though. Hehe

The Wisconsin threads are pretty friendly. :) We just encourage each-other to spend money, and have outings and parking lot parties. There are a lot of cool people there.

But, there are definitely enough D-bag posters there.

I think this board is very good for the technical aspects of repair/modification. I have contributed to the "What have you done" thread a few times, want to do a few more but my camera skills suck.

However, I don't understand why there is not a private place to speak on politics that impact our vehicles. Energy policies, CAFE standards, DOT regulations, emissions, road repair even because the local gov won't. Heck, make it a private area not visible to the web crawler bots. Regardless, government touches every aspect of our 4Runners and yes, these items above fluctuate depending on whose in office.

Name calling, vile suggestions, anger ect. These are all part of the American political landscape as evidenced by the debates the founders had and throughout. Why not embrace who we are? You may not be interested in 'politics' but it it's darn sure interested in you.

    just sayin.

There definitely should be an "anything goes" forum with just some basic rules against threatening, etc, where politics could be discussed. As you say, we may not be interested in politics, but it's very interested in us (and our choice of transportation).

I get what you guys are saying, but this is a free forum we chose to join. They can allow/forbid whatever they like.

It's just like how bigger social media (FB,IG,etc) can choose whose political opinions are allowed. Which, in my opinion, is even worse than not allowing any political discussion.

True, and anyone who doesn't like it can leave (or be banned), but people can still ask for the change to be made.

Yes, they can. But it's been brought up before.

Talking to random people on the internet about politics has never ended with someone changing their mind. It 99.99% ends in someone making an ass out of themselves, name calling, etc. I wish it wasn't true, but I've seen it happen. I've probably even been the "ass" a time or two.

I'm not questioning that this is a private website and 'they' can allow/forbid. I'm simply pointing out that there should be a place to discuss the areas I pointed out in regards to our vehicles. What I'm suggesting is no different than asking a grocery store why they don't carry X and would they start. They can always say no and tell me to take my business somewhere else, or if they want more business would try to accommodate their customers.
    just sayin.

The problem is that those discussions are typically so full of misinformation, disinformation, and incivility that they're not even a place to find helpful information. So you end up with all the downsides of those discussions and none of the upsides.

I don't disagree. I don't think more people would join if political discussion were allowed, though.

Guilty. We fight enough about suspension and tires around here, though. :D
