Just got my 2022 TRD off-road premium in. Didn’t realize the front and back bumpers are silver, as I wanted black. The dealer said they can order trd pro bumpers since they’re black but they aren’t sure if they will fit or not. Does anyone have insight? Need to guarantee they will fit before ordering because they won’t refund.C0059461-2B74-4908-B7EB-8964F5727EAD.jpgDAE41B42-3153-4CE4-B416-AF2DC4FC65B5.jpg

I don't know why they even put that silver crap on there. I would just get a quote from a body shop to paint them. Probably a lot cheaper than replacing them.

They should be the same, just factory painted. I’ve seen people post about purchasing black, swapping out the silver.

Yes they fit. Ordering mine soon unless I go with some new bumpers.

Again, I don't know why they do that! Even the same as the body color would look better.

Urgent? haha relax its no biggie.

Off-road models all come like this. Just get the valence vinyl wrapped black it will be cheaper and look good.

If you must order the OEM parts, have them order the black valences from the pro model and they will fit. No need to replace the whole bumper they are just some plastic pieces that go over the bumpers.

Usually if I see 'URGENT!' I'm expecting a post about a truck that is torn apart mid-project on a Sunday afternoon that needs to get reassembled as the daily driver. Not sure this totally qualifies, but I see this is your first post. Welcome to the forum.

They fit just fine, run away from that dealer as fast as you can if they don't know that information. They're the same valance, just different color. You can get the front valance on without taking the bumper off, there's a video out there if you google it. Rear bumper has to come off.

I order my OEM stuff from Olathe Toyota or Lagrange Toyota as they have the cheapest prices I've seen from a dealer.

Right? I envisioned a front bumper embedded in a Honda Civic that needed replacement, not a desperate need for another color...

Curious how you spend that kind of money on a new truck without ever seeing a picture of it? Or seeing one in person first?

Do they wrap those on the truck, or do they need to come off?

That’s what my thought process was. You ever been quotes for this small of a job? I’ve only ever wrapped entire vehicles

I think that's just the black out package, which doesn't change the valances.

I got a '22 ORP recently, and couldn't really order exactly what I wanted due to supply issues and demand. So, I put the black out package on myself and swapped the ORP front end for the Pro front end, because I originally wanted a Pro but no way in hell was going to pay 10k+ over msrp for it. I just have to put the black valance on this weekend to finish it off. I also swapped out the stock ORP wheels for the matte black TRD wheels.

That’s typically how wrap shops operate. I made an appointment and then had to wait 9 days. Granted I was doing a full wrap and they had to retint my roof and windshield twice (Tesla). I can’t imagine valances taking more than an hour to wrap

I have zero experiences with wraps, but I went the OEM swap route with the thought process of rock/debris chips ripping the wrap and seeing the original silver paint underneath. I also live in Vegas and was concerned about fading or warping with the intense sun and heat on a wrap. Again, I may be wrong with my ignorance to wraps and how they hold up to extreme climates.

Sun wouldn’t really be an issue. But with rock chips etc., you’re 100% right. I’m gonna go OEM unless I decide to swap my bumper out. Smart move

That's what I figured, there a ton of wrap shops here in Vegas lol. They must hold up. But yeah, rock chips.... I had 300 miles on my new ORP and took a rock or something to my hood on my way up to the mountains for some snowboarding. Took a nickel size dent and damage to the paint protection. Had the dent PDR'd and I'll deal with the nick in the paint protection. Talk about tough luck haha.

I happen to love the silver bumpers, but as others have said, yes, the black ones will fit. Not hard to swap them out or just remove them for painting if you want to do it yourself.

Me too. My truck came with the blackout kit and I asked the dealer to remove it and replace with silver. I have a green truck, and having everything blacked out made it too dark. I like a little contrast. :)

The silver looks great against the green. The black bumpers always looked a bit cheap to me too.

my 4runner came from factory with the blackout for trim pieces, but those stupid chromed pieces they put in the grill (right next to the blacked out Toyota emblems) were not covered... a simple $30 set of blacked out covers (Amazon) for those chrome trim pieces solved the problem... so to the author yes get them wrapped, or get the black ones.. .no clue why toyota would half a$$ a blackout on these vehicles... doesnt make sense

I recently removed my silver valances and spray painted them, figured it was worth a shot at DIY’ing first and if they don’t hold up I can always go the OEM route later. As others mentioned, it is possible to remove the front valance with the bumper still in place, but I bet it’d be a hell of a lot easier to just pull the bumper, your finger tips will thank you, and you’ve still gotta pull the back anyway.

Painting process: wet sanded the valances with 800 grit, clean and dry. 2 coats of self etching primer (1 can), 3 coats of rustoleum bed liner (1.5 cans). The black bed liner doesn’t have too much grain and is less glossy than the oem black valances. Rock chips will happen no matter what, and I think these should be easier to touch up if needed.

I did the valance this weekend and found it much easier to just pull the bumper rather than dropping the skid plate and reaching up and over the bumper beam. It is possible though, there is a video out there somewhere if you google it, but it is an SR5 without a skid plate and there is more room.

Also, if you have TSS there are extra bolts and screws to remove the radar and harness before pulling the bumper. Most videos I saw there was no TSS to deal with. I thankfully realized it before I started yanking on the bumper :muscleflexing:

+1 on painting them a more matte black.
I had the OEM pro valances on my ‘19 and they were just too glossy for my liking
