Not seeing too much of this tire on 5th gen. If anyones running this size, please post pic. Just completed BMC and gained about 1.5” of clearance on my 285 with spidertraxx spacers combined with scs gen5 17x8.5 -10 offset. Would want to see how close are people getting to the front and back of wheel when locked. Planning on swapping with f5 17x9 -38 offset and removing spacers, I know I’d easily clear 295/70 so I wanna see if I can push it to 305/70.

I don't think there are too many people on 305's, so hopefully someone chimes in...

after writing a longer response, I noticed in your signature that you have a body lift. I think you should make that clear in your original post, as I imagine it makes a significant difference... although you will now be less likely to get any responses because very few people run body lifts. also, there aren't as many lifted sport/limited models out there, and the different front bumper may not have the same clearances as us with an sr5/OR/pro?

I think you should just do it.... but expect some trimming.

Just do it and report back. You're already there..

I'm not sure how different the 4th and 5th gen suspension geometry is but from members on other platform that I've spoken too, they are running -38mm offset (some add 1.25" spacers), +4-5deg caster, BMC and 1" BL and clears 35's fairly easy. Of course they have high clearance bumper.

Thanks guys, main reason for the upsize is because after installing the body lift and adjusting the coilovers to compensate lean and rake I got about a 5" lift in the front. Toytec body lift states a 1" lift but after all said and done, I gained 1 3/8". Now the 285 looks small and the truck missed out leg day, kinda like a post lift with stock wheels. Ill see if discount tire will let me try a 305, I anticipate more trimming involved but dont mind if its not excessive meaning not wanting to cut up he face of the bumper.

what about trying a 285/75/17? same diameter as the 305 but will definitely be easier to fit. I bet you would get away with minimal front bumper trimming. also a few C load options in that size.

I thought about it but I like the wide tire look, otherwise 295 would be it. I seen a few running 305/65 but its comparable to 285/70 just an inch wider. There's only 1 that I see that is running the combo 17x9 -38 with 305/70 and looks really good but too bad he hasnt been on forums for the past couple years.

Thanks bud. BMC, liner/bumper cut is a must to fit 33s and up. Only thing they didnt talk about, if it was done but didnt look like it was is flattening the pinch welds. And it also looks like hes running very close to 0 offset so not much to worry in the scrub radius. Its more so when you run that tire spec with -25 offset or more is what im trying to figure out. Theres one other owner on this link thats running 17x9 -38 offset plus traxxas spacers plus 315/70. Now this is the guy to find and figure out how/if hes getting away with rubbing.

I’ll be bumping up to this size in the near future from 295’s, my current tires have about one more season left in them. Don’t expect much work as I already have a BMC and did wheel well work. Having the caster maxed out helps too. I haven’t been in a situation offroad where the tire bumps into the pinch weld..yet. I wouldn’t expect 305’s to be a big issue with rubbing if the only obstacle would be a speed bump at the mall.

Just purchased 315/70/17 Cooper STT Pro tires for the Runner. Getting my new shoes installed on Friday. Definitely wanted a shop doing my BMC and fitting of my tires. Also, having the shop do a viper cut. Excited to see these tires on the Runner and see how they perform!

Keep us updated after the install. Btw, what specs are your current rims? And any spacers?

17x9 -12 offset. Not running any spacers. Currently running 285/70/17 Nittos without any rubbing! Will keep you guys updated after the install!

    Lots of goodies
I promise you did not get 1-3/8” lift from a 1” Toytec body lift. The only way to make eight 1” high spacers lift it another 3/8” is by adding another 3/8” of *something in there with the spacers. Also, as I am sure you are aware by now, a body lift does not really help clear bigger tires except to reduce the amount of trimming in the front of the wheelwells. If you are already planning a high clearance front bumper the BL is a waste. The first points that will contact your 34s, 35s and beyond are going to be the body mount and the pinch weld. For a mall crawler, whatever…doesn’t matter anyway, but if you plan on flexing it you still have to mod the firewall even with the body lift.

@T-Runner Here are some pics of my Runner with its new shoes. 315/70/17r Cooper STT Pros. The shop that installed the tires also did a BMC and Viper Cut.

My buddy and I installed today my Outgear Solutions Low Key Front Bumper and 30’ Light Bar. I also had to do some extra trimming myself in order for my front tires not to rub. After the trimming, ZERO rubbing now.

I look forward to hearing about your install when you do it. I stuck with 285/75/17 on mine because I would rather have a smoother ride with bigger sidewalls than wider tires. Remember the wider you go the more stress you’re putting on the power steering pump. So think about getting a radiator to cool down your power steering fluid. Sure would stink to have to replace that. I heard a guy who is running 35’s was going through power steering pumps like crazy until he put a radiator for the power steering. Just an idea but I am sure it will look super nice when you do it.

Thanks guys for your feedback. I’ve decided to go with 285/75 for practical purposes till the world goes back to normal. Now just got to figure out which C load ill go with.

Go 295/70. 305/70 on 17x9 -38 it’s too much tire in the wheel well. Trying my rounds with the Sumo bumpstops and Duros right now. No pictures on the forklift yet. Lots of scraping in the wheel wells.30988607-A600-461B-8B8C-343301555F2B.jpg19577DE0-9B09-4FEB-A9D1-1937AE11D2B7.jpg
