New guy from Canada - 2022 Lunar Rock TRD OR

Hey everybody!

I've wanted a 4Runner for a very long time now. I must have spent hours over the years reading reviews, forum posts and watching countless youtube videos. There was always something about them that drew me in, the classic body on frame/v6 formula, the reliability, exterior styling and smooth feel...well you guys get it. I came from a full size pickup so I am used to poor fuel mileage and despite todays fuel prices, the opportunity to purchase my dream spec arose and I had to pull the trigger. Someone backed out of an order at a dealership 3hrs away from me and I was able to negotiate a good trade offer on my truck. We are fortunate that dealer "market adjustments" are not allowed in Canada. I'm happy with my decision and I am excited for the many adventures that this rig is going to take me on. Let the modifications begin!

I'm sure you've heard this before, but if you're in Canada I would definitely get that fluid filmed, or done with crown, or whatever you guys have up there for rustproofing.

 

Welcome ! I’m from Toronto Canada and waiting for my Runner to leave the local yard to the dealership. The wait is killing me! Lol. I didn’t know dealer ADM’s were illegal in Canada ? I’ve seen dealers marking up Broncos here. I was afraid when I went to pickup my truck they might try and play games. Congrats on your beauty 4Runner and have fun driving it. I am coming from a lifted Ranger with 285s so not really concerned about the gas mileage too much lol. Enjoy your new ride eh

While blatant markups are not permitted, lets be real , dealerships in Canada have gotten creative about how they hide fees. They usually reside in things like "protection packages", different types of document fees, etc. Make sure you take your time and read all the line items on the final quote sheet and ask questions about anything you don't fully understand. They typically whisk you into the finance persons office and quickly drill down through these fees and suggest why you should purchase various extended warranties, etc. Again, take your time and only purchase ECP, or whatever if it works for your personal situation. Read the fine print and be informed. Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Lots of good info and conversations going on in here for sure.

I am loving this thing so far. I'm sitting at 1800kms of mixed side road, highway and a few FSR adventures and I am in love. Super smooth, much easier to maneuver than my old full size truck.

I immediately upgraded to AT tires in the stock size. I decided to go with Motomaster Eliminator X-Trail ATs in LT265/70R17 (a Canadian tire brand of tire, obtainable in the US but basically exclusive to Canada). Hear me out, these tires are designed and made by Cooper in USA and are impressive so far. They appear to be a Wildpeak competitor. I plan to do a formal review of them in the future.
