Break Pedal and accelerator too close together

Can not come up with a solution for driving my 4Runner with hiking boots other than Maybe bending the brake pedal mount. Brake pedal is too close to the accelerator causing my boot to push the brake pedal and the accelerator at the same time even when boot is mooved all the way to the right rubbing the center hump of floor pan. Ill have to keep a pair of narrower shoes with me till I adjust something.

 

Must wear some big boots! Never had this issue

 

Not all that big although my hiking boots are wider tread than my work boots,
I wear a size 11 1/2 to12 my winter boots are even wider, I don't dare wear them and try to drive.

 

Maybe I can just use my hiking stick to push the throttle, are they still called work boots if you're retired? Haha

 

Damn thats crazy. I'm about an 11 and have no issues with fitting my foot with the boots on, wear boots on the daily

 

Wear tennis shoes until you get to your destination? Easy fix.

 

I wear these and have never had a problem. You must have some interesting feet. Have you tried changing your seating position?

 

Your are suppose to move the chair back when wearing boots i do that and both my muck boots, and my snake boots cause no issue. Then again i am a size 9.5

 

I just wear my wife's Mary Janes or her F-me stilettos...

Well these hiking boots aren't anything special there a size 11 and a half wide I can get it to clear the brake pedal if my foot is awkwardly twisted at the ankle so that I'm using my wee wee wee all the way home toe on the accelerator and the this piggy went to the market toe twisted towards me.

 

I'm going to measure the distance between the right side of the brake pedal to the left side of the floor pan hump and see if measurements are the same as with others willing to measure theirs

 

I am a ave size guy perhaps not average , when you see just how big the people are in north america. 5-10 165lbs. so I find the pedals are close and the seat is for a very small azz.

The people that made these have tiny feet and no azz. so for them what's your problem mr american..

I have read in addition to the pedals close that if your a tall person like 6-5 ft .. and are over weight your head will hit the roof.
the big boots I used to wear I did have a problem on a full sized GM sedan .. not what they call today a full sized sedan .. you can put 7 bodies in the trunk of that sedan type . but the seat was big and the pedals had a good space between them .. the boots would sometimes hit the lower portion of the dash on occasion , so with the boots on I moved the seat back .. I could move that seat back so far I could not reach the pedals LOL.....

 

Also with a 14 shoe and haven't had any issues yet with the closeness of the pedals even with Sorrell snow boots on. Sometimes it's just getting used to it.

Can't tell if j-cat is trolling, but I'm a larger guy and find the head and legroom to be great. The one area that's a little tight or needs getting used to is the drivers side door - knee is always against it.

I actually have this problem myself, and would love to find a solution..

But, some of it stems from a bad habit formed over many years from my experiences with four speeds. My heel rests pretty near centered under the brake, and with my heel in place, pivot from the accelerator to the brake. But this is the first vehicle I've owned that gives me the problem. Ohhh, I also wear shoes in 6E width.

The only solution I can think of is to remove the entire brake lever, remove the sheet metal for the pedal, and re weld it to the left 3/8ths inch or so. Lots of work to be able to keep a bad habit ... but, old habits die hard!
