Thanks, your post actually makes me feel better.

I have no clue if the ball joints are the limiting factor on my T4R. I will say I’ve done my share of off road in the 3+ years of ownership and I don’t think I’ve ever been in an off camber situation (wheel off ground). Since I probably have at least some vehicle weight on all four corners, that should lessen the chance of premature ball joint wear, right?

I would think so, but Im a noob at all this. Also, I dont really think ball joints were the limiting downtravel factor unless you have extended travel or long travel. I gotta watch the vid again, so information dense…. Anyway, I think that’s when you need to start thinking of new upper and lower control arms and/or limiting straps to avoid binding the ball joint.

Yes, I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I currently don’t have a jack that will jack up a corner on my truck. Stock jack won’t even come close as with my floor jacks. If I get a flat, I’m screwed. I do carry a Viair compressor and tire plug kit. Which most flats are usually a nail or screw. It would be nice to jack up a corner and actually see what the limiting factor is. I’m fairly certain that my rear stock shocks are the limiting factor in the back, but no clue up front.

stock bottle jack wont do it? Surely it has to!? It’s meant for tire changes. Maybe putting the jack on a solid 2x6 or 2x8 for a little extra clearance? Well, not worth the risk though if it looks sketchy to you. I havent played with the stock jack to know.

Do you have extended travel shocks?

No stock bottle jack won’t reach with lift. Your right I could block it up. On a side note but related. Last year we had a slow flat on the sequoia. Went flat in garage. Car is completely stock and the factory included jack would not go low enough to get under a jack point so I could install the spare. I had to first use a low profile floor jack to get the car high enough so I could get the factory jack under it. Totally stupid.

No, I don’t have extended travel shocks. They are stock factory.

Ugh, that thing looks sooo good.
Edit: the “ugh” is because it’s like a gut-punch good, if that exists.

I bought an off-road jack base from Amazon for like 18 bucks, I measured the footprint and it will fit the stock bottle jack. I think it gives about a 4-in increase in height. Not sure if that's enough for your purposes.

Yeah no problem. I don't know if it'll exactly work for your application, I'm still at stock height. I was mainly looking for something that would be less prone to sink into soft ground.

I found a link, this is one similar, I don't think it's the exact one but they're all kind of the same. Looks like prices have gone up a little bit, but they're still pretty cheap.
