They be fine. They can't get enough parts to spit out vehicles anyways.

“Just in time” manufacturing. If your supplier cant supply, you can’t make. It seems like a lot, if not all manufacturers keep pretty much 0 parts on hand at the factory.

Best got those 4runners while a person can. If folks thought wait times were long now, just wait.

Imagine the already short supply. So when those plants close even for a few weeks then they only vehicles coming in are the ones already at the ports
Now add to that the high demand for 4Runners right now.

what happens next is anyones guess but I am thinking sellers market if a person was looking to sell

I've been kicking around the idea of selling mine for a while actually. I like it just enough to be hesitant to pull the trigger though.

As of a few weeks ago, I've had mine for 3 years now. It sounds lame to say it, but my favorite thing about it is that it's been reliable. In that 3 years of ownership, which brought me from 79K to 133K, the only thing I've had to do to it other than regular maintenance was to have the AC topped off last summer.

Selling your 4Runner now would be like shooting your self in the foot. Same as selling your home. Sure we could make a big profit but we might be homeless AND without transportation.

Reportedly a cyber attack, according to several news outlets.
Here’s an excerpt from WSJ tonight:

“….The supplier, Kojima Industries Corp., said it had server trouble Saturday night and discovered a virus and a threatening message after restarting the server. After struggling with the problem over the weekend, Kojima said it concluded Monday that it couldn’t get its systems in place to work with customers properly on Tuesday.

ToyotaTM -1.31% said the problem at Kojima, a supplier of plastic parts for car interiors, led to the one-day shutdown Tuesday at all its factories in Japan. On Tuesday morning, it said production would resume Wednesday morning.”

Since I leased my current one, I'm kinda stuck. If I can get out of it early I think I'm going to even though it suits my needs perfectly. I just don't want a car payment anymore, but finding an old 4x4 that I can pay cash for is difficult.

This (I'm not leasing though). I've had my 4R for over two years now, kind of wish I held on to my 2011 Pro-4x Xterra. No payments, and a solid 4x4 with a rear locker, enough room for my family of 4.

This is how I feel. I've done so much stuff to mine personally, that it would be super painful to sell it for profit, unless it was outrageously profitable.

I remember this came up over the summer, if I remember correctly you were pretty set on keeping it. Having no car payment is definitely attractive though, huh? Lol.

I paid mine off end of 2020, so basically I just see a pile of cash sitting out on the street right now. As far as replacing it, there are plenty of $5,000 Tahoes on marketplace that would suit my 4x4 needs just perfectly. Won't be great at the gas pump, but at least with the V8 it'll sound good.

Same here. Worked way too long to get it to where i love it. Even if they were available not sure if i would upgrade as i dont want to start from scratch again. Although the knowledge i gained here on this forum would make the next build a lot faster and less of a headache.

Can’t go wrong with a v8, I had 3 before I went down 2 cylinders (2000 & 2001 grand Cherokee v8 & 2001 tahoe) still have the Tahoe. I think 2007 & up styles mpg difference would be minimal. My 01 gets 10 winter 12-13 summer on ko2’s & a heavy foot. The active fuel management sucks on 2007 and ups though.

Yeah I'm actually looking for a Pro4X, but they are hard to find. I also had a 2011 Pro 4X. I've had so many new cars since then and that was fine before our economy was ruined.

I really like the GMT800 series (00-06). The styling of the 900s is nice, but everyone who knows those tells me reliability really nosedives with those. I'll sacrifice a few mpg for durability. Plus they're still relatively cheap, except for the 2500 Burbs.

I Agree, I think the 00-06 Tahoe / Silverado’s were the last solid ones GM put out, I specifically like the 00-02’s, 03-06 had some changes done and seem to have more issues. Little stuff to, after 2002 they stopped putting glove box lights and floor lights in like why?!? That cheap!?

That's interesting, somebody else that knows these trucks told me to stay away from the later years as well. It's a shame, because I like the updated interior as opposed to the 01-02.

I live in New England, if I were to start looking I would have to look down south or out west for one. The rust has hit most of them pretty hard here. I think it would be worth it to travel for a nice one.

I have a 2002 Z71 Suburban with it's entire lifetime spent in Maryland and the rust is starting to do a number on it. Still runs good (drips and smokes oil) and looks pretty good for a 20 year old, 238,000 miles, boys beater hunting and fishing rig! Plan to do a big road trip to Utah for mtn biking and there will be some times when I will want to secure my mtn bike in the 4R. There ain't a whole lot of room in there with the bike inside. The Suburban would be perfect for this venture, but I don't think I can trust it for a three or four week 5,000 mile trip.

For me being in New York and the truck being a NY vehicle it’s whole life it’s still one of the better looking ones on the road, when I got it in January 2015 I rust proofed it yearly and seemed to slow down the rust. I kept it for the winter beater now. I would still trust it for a long road trip as well always maintained it very well. Apparently mine likes transmissions though, brought the 4 runner home Christmas, Tahoe’s second transmission said bye bye 3 weeks ago.
