Yesterday i was on a trail with some really deep sand and my back tires fell in hole and burried the truck to the frame. So i put in low speed crawl in reverse and it started digging out, but then my truck stated waring saying the transmission got to hot. I took it our of crawl and was dug out enough at that point to use my rear locker and bearly got out. But after i let the truck cool down for an hour in the middle of no where, and tried again, started the truck and put it in 4lo the truck was stuck in nutral when it was in drive, and flashed a AT/P warning light so i put it back in two wheel and back in 4lo and it worked.
Now my questions is my low speed on crawl is very jerky and feels like it keeps slaming the brakes every second, and evryother speed works fine, and tranny shifts very hard when i 4lo does any one have any idea what may have gone wrong and if i should have the tranny checked by toyota since the truck only has 6,000 miles on it?

On flat ground the crawl control will be very stop/go with the dial all the way to the slowest speed.

When shifting in 4lo it will also always be clunky due to the lower gear ratio.

Next step, read manual and enjoy the 4x4 goodies properly without worry.

Your post is somewhat incoherent, but it appears that the issues resolved themselves except for:

    1) Crawl control feels like it modulates the brakes when activated
    2) Hard shift into 4Lo

The solution for these problems is:

    1) Do nothing, this is normal
    2) Do nothing, this is normal

Thanks for the info, sorry it was a little hard to read, kind of typed it on the fly. So it is normal for the hard shifting in 4Lo and the jerking and slaming of the low speed.

But why did my transmission fluid get hot, and why did it get stuck in Neutral, when i was in drive while engaged on 4Lo and got a AT/P error which is a "parking gear" failure according to the manual?

How long were you trying to get unstuck? If it was for any length of time, that's why it overheated. You can't just spin your wheels without moving without causing some issues.

Sometimes things just don't mesh quite right in the transmission / transfer case as you shift in and out of various gears and you may have to repeat an operation, move slightly forward or back, etc. No offense intended, but you sound like you don't really know how to use some of the features, so I would assume a combination of user error and normal transmission / transfer mesh issues. If it was a one time deal, don't worry about it.

Cool thanks, i know how to use the features, but this my first 4x4, i have only owned 2x4 trucks before, so i am not use to any problems when they occur and if it is normal or not. Thanks

since the ATF over temp came on I would change the fluid . do a fluid check first see how it looks and that it is at the proper level 105-112 deg f .

Also, first rule of sand driving: decrease your tire pressure! It will really help to keep your transmission from working as hard. It gives you much better traction. Lowering tire pressure also helps in several other off road situations.
