ok, got the rack installed (FREAKING LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) on my '18 TRD ORP

Now on to the light bar and need help please:

    1) My installer said the "rocker panel" switches I was looking at would not work. Is this true?

    2) We ordered Cali raised switches specific to my vehicle instead (one amber/white and one led roof rack) so I have access to all light bar functionality. Does this sound right?

    3) How in the heck do you get the wiring harness from the bar to the engine bay with as little modification and as "stealthily" as possible???

    4) What do I not know that I don't know???

And, before you ask,,, I have the Rough Country 3" lift being installed Thursday since my 285s do in fact rub on stock set up :) and I'll post before & after pics after it's on.

    Many thanks for any assistance!!!

    1) Rocker switches would work. Just need to make sure you have the wiring harness and use a relay.
    2) Sure, why not. Push button latching switch or a rocker, same functionality. Again, just make sure you have the wiring harness w/relay. You can't run the current needed for the bar through the switch directly.
    3) Search "KC Wire hider" It sticks to the windshield and you can run the wires down one edge (driver is better).
    4) Report back when your done.

Wish I'd known about the wire hider. This was the main reason I didn't bother with lights when I installed my Sherpa rack.

I found it researching installs. I'll be using it for my Sherpa rack, but only for rack lights & chase lights. Doing a hidden grill light bar instead with Rago mounts. My brother used one on his Xterra for an X6S light bar with their harness and it worked great.

Also, you can just buy a new shorter fairing from Sherpa or cut yours.

I also have the KC wire hider. Had it for a few months and wouldn't even know it's there.

Pictures uploaded weird but heres some input... Idk about others but the power cord with my light bar, that large waterproof connector in the second picture, wasnt long enough to go past my hood closure without being crushed. It was the perfectly wrong length. So i hiked up the cord a bit and put it there, then wired the rest through the hood closure in the third pic. The last one above is the switch panel i made a custom wire harness for and routed into the cab, that controls my relay bank.

Lemme know if anyone has questions

Where'd you buy the black rubber strip that runs along the windshield from? I want to add lights to my rack but it's hard to conceal it.

I got it straight from them but any number of shops stock them too. It comes wound in a small circle to fit in the box so pull it out and straighten it under something heavy to make it easier when you apply. Then just cut it to whatever length you need - its a meter long and thats too long for any of our windshields. The 3M tape that comes with it is fine, albeit narrow. Just try to use as much as you can so it stays secure, ie. butt each strip up to the next so there are little to no gaps. Prep the edge of your windshield well and stick, then press down on each 3M strip for AT LEAST 30s. Should be set :bananadance:
