We recently purchased a 2018 limited and first thing I noticed was that the passenger seat sits quite a bit taller than the driver seat (Probably close to 1-2"). Every time I get in the passenger seat, my head hits the roof. I have looked and don't see anyway to lower it. Am I missing something? Is there some trick that you all have done to remedy this? Any help is appreciated.

That is because the drivers seat is height adjustable.

You don't say?! I wondered why the difference in seat height. Do my mirrors move as well, because my wife can see just fine driving, but I can't when I drive.

In all seriousness though, our 2018 SR5 didn't have this issue. I have a friend that has a Tacoma and his seats are not that different either. I was just curious if anyone else has this problem.

Did/does one have a sunroof and the other did not?

Yes, my 2018 SR5 has a height difference unless I adjust the drivers seat to the same height. Tacoma’s just introduced the height adjustment in the 2020 models I believe, earlier ones didn’t. I had a 2017, seats were the exact same because of it.

They both have the sunroof. The passenger seat is just taller.

You are not the first one to complain about the height of the passenger seat. We also have an 18 highlander, that has s seat height that is on the high side as well. It feels weird especially if you are used to lowering the seat when driving. Thankfully, I am not so tall that my head is on the ceiling when I ride shotgun. I wish the passenger seat was height adjustable, but thankfully it’s comfortable as a driver

We are thinking of getting a new one but it would have to come without the moonroof. Tomorrow, I'm stopping by the dealership to measure the passenger seat supports and see how much it would be to fabricate the support Toyota should have done many years ago. Neither my 88 and 07 had moonroofs as I wouldn't fit. Actually had a salesman try to get us to buy one a few years back with a moonroof and said I would just have to lean the passenger back far enough when my wife was driving. I told him where to put his thinking. Makes me wonder how many sales Toyota has lost because they don't care.
